ViceSmith

[Oracle]

Have any of you used the ViceSmith tool? It definitely fits in the infrequent use but handy when needed category. I bought one, I subscribe to the right tool for the job set of people.

I haven't received any responses yet, uh oh. Yes the tool is a solution to a problem which may never occur. Many of my friends are dyed in the wool S&W wheel gun fans and we share tools (piston ring compressor) so it is likely to see use.

I've got a set of vice grips if that's the same thing.

Back in 1980, I bought a pair of medium vice grips and filed flats on the jaw faces. Been using it ever since for a variety of jobs, including the removal and tightening of extractor rods. Great tools....how did we ever do without them?

I've never tried the ViceSmith, but it looks like a good design.

I have a couple the epoxy didn't hold had to rough up and re glue. Then they worked ok.

I need to get one. Doing it with wraps etc. is just asking for trouble. Might get this type.

I have one. Don't use it often, but when you need it, you gotta have one.

My first set was like that. I emailed the maker and he sent me a new set.

I had never seen anything like that. Got one on order now.

I used mine to tighten the extractor rod on my 986. It works.
