This happened close to our area. A couple (The Londons) who owned a mattress store were robbed at their store one night by a bunch of thugs. The owner defended himself and shot and killed one of them. The Londons were going to testify and help lock up the other suspects involved in the robbery which were all part of a gang. Unfortunately the gang members were planning on revenge and found out where the couple lived. They sent someone to follow through on their evil plans ... What's sad is that they did murder the couple. Now after the investigation they've found out that the owner had tried to defend himself that night but a spent shell casing lodged itself in the gun, rendering it useless.

I don't know what gun he had or the ammo but this is one nightmare situation none of us want to be in. Very sad story indeed but also a reminder to us all that we need to make sure our carry guns are functioning in top shape and loaded with reliable ammo.

A very unsettling story on many levels. I doubt the investigating agency will be motivated to document or release any more details than those. It would be of interest to gun people but no one else. Prayers to the victims families.

I'd met the Londons a couple of times. They were real nice folks and did not deserve to die the way they did.

They were doing their civic duty by showing up in court to testify against the thugs who robbed them.

Hopefully, the court will finish the job the Londons started.

I thank god I had a 1911 that jammed one round per 8rd mag. I had practice at clearing the stove piping. I found out the extractor needed tuning. It doesn't jam anymore.

My CZ pistols do not jam.

Know your gun completely someday your life may depend on it.

I see many people picking out a semi auto as their first gun and doing little training w/it. You need to know how to clear a stovepipe, or any other malfunction, instantly and most non LEO folks don't put in the time. I was trained when our agency transitioned to the Glock pistol but in retirement I still carry a revolver b/c that's where my comfort level lies. I do have an M&P no laser .380 that is only carried under limited circumstances, and is shot regularly. The fact that these two people died at the hands of these miscreants is indeed sad.

Revolvers never fail and if you need more than 6 rounds you need more practice , Sorry about those folks

I'm with ya,,,,

One well placed round = one body bag.

Six well placed rounds = six body bags.

Eighteen well placed rounds = eighteen body bags & two speed loaders.

Practice often, practice more, shoot at the "X" ring. Don't stop shooting till there all in the x ring.

This is why you need to clean and lube your carry weapons regularly

I am spec my nightly to make sure no use of new properly but there is no foreign objects in the barrel or the action

Lubed with moly ready to rock n roll at anytime.

Agreed on the revolver practice, I have my 4516 + spare mag at arms length in the bedroom at night which has not failed to go boom at the range but I also have a 4" security six loaded with .357 with hp as back up.

Yep...that'll keep those crappy semi-autos from getting you killed alright. I never have been able to figure out why cops aren't smart enough to carry revolvers.

In case you didn't notice, there's a set of [SARCASM]...[/SARCASM] tags around my comment.
