Victory Model Main Spring and Strain Screw

I'm getting failure to fire with my Victory model in double action and the strain screw is all the way in. The screw looks to be really chewed up on the end.
Was wondering if a strain screw and/or main spring from a model 10 would work?

To see if that is the problem, get a fired large pistol or rifle primer. Remove the anvil (if it is still in it) and place it over the end of the screw. That will give you enough length to put more tension on the spring. If that works, you may be good to go.

A Model 10 mainspring and screw should work. There was a thread change on that screw but I think it was before the war.

Ok, I will try the primer trick which I believe will prove my suspicion of the problem. I can get to the range again next Tuesday to check it out. If all goes okay, then I'll try to get with Gene or go the model 10 route if necessary.

It is so much easier just to bend the mainspring a bit. Flatten it out a tad and you will get more spring force with the strain screw you already have. The primer cap shims tend to fall out and get lost during cleaning.

I'll try the options mentioned and if they work and I believe they will, then I'll go ahead and order the parts from the links supplied above.
