I have a Victory Model in 38 Spl. with a broken thumb spur on the hammer. It is stamped "M" on the left side (down low, so it doesn't show when assembled). Is there some significance to this letter stamp? I see on eBay, Victory Model hammers with different letter stamps.

I ask because I wouldn't want to buy "any" hammer if it has to do with size/fitting? Do I need an "M" hammer or anything goes, then have it fit to my revolver?

Thanks for your help!

You made me look! I have three M&P hammers that should be correct (or at least usable) in the Victory model. I see one with no marking, one stamped "3", and one stamped "2". All three are otherwise identical on visual inspection, color case hardened, probably post-WW2 and pre-1960 production.

Send me a PM if you wish to try one of these as a replacement. I also have a few other internal parts, triggers, etc.
