Wally world shelves are bare

Same here in NW Oklahoma. No 22LR or 9MM anywhere. WalMart has been out for several weeks. Attwoods is out too.

The only 22cal. here is at Durhams and they want 3.99 for 50rds of Rem.!!!!!

Whatever is put out goes quickly. Managed to pick up 4 (50 round) boxes of Federal hi shok 9mm @15.99/box. I've not seen this before at walmart, but looks like a good price for hollow points. I left the remaining 4 boxes for the next guy.

My Dad was a kid on the farm during WWII. All ammo was in short supply. Farmers were "alloted" a couple boxes of shotgun shells periodically for pest control. He said it was very hard to have enough to go hunting. After the war and after I came along he always kept enough ammo to feed our guns. He's gone now but I've always adhered to the same principle.

Same here in Coastal NC, Wally World and BassPro shelves empty.

It will be interesting to see how quickly things comes back in stock. I order ammo from sgammo and they went out of stock of CCI SV before the weekend. Today thy are showing another 123 cases of 5k in stock.

Skeeter Skelton wrote stories on this same situation. There was some ammo, but it was used as needed, not wasted. You can argue that range time isn't waste, but if you watch you'll realize a lot of lead goes down range is really isn't even aimed. During WWII there was an honest shortage with every round going to the war effort. Today we have an artificial shortage that will soon start to ease up.

If anyone really wants ammo, they can find it at the gun shows. I'm pretty sure folks still buy it at the stores then tote it to the shows to sell and make a modest profit. At last weekends show there was almost every caliber represented. Sure, the sellers know its in short supply. Those same sellers have never been very willing to cut the price and even less so now they can't resupply. So if you want ammo pay the price and take it home. Complaining about it being gouging won't get you any sympathy.

We went to the local Walmart for our monthly grocery stocking up trip yesterday. For us up here in the West Virginia mountains, local is a 70 mile out of state trip to Lavale MD.
I just had to check out the ammo shelves and they were bare. There was a little sign instructing people to ask for ammo at the counter. We didn't, we've got lotsa ammo already. Don't know why they pulled all the ammo off the shelves, maybe a Maryland thing? They do have some goofy gun laws out there.

My local Wal-Mart is bare as well. A few weeks ago they got large shipment of .223 American Eagle in and they sold quickly. I bought about 300 rounds mostly for the brass (I re-load) due to not being able to find any brass locally or online.

Dicks Sporting Goods is bare as well other than CCI "Shoot Em" for 29.99 a box which is high to me.

Checked 4 Denver WalMarts yesterday, nada.. not a round of .223 or 9mm to be found..

One of the guys that worked in one of the usually better supplied stores told me they would not be getting any more .223 ammo from now on.. (take that for what it's worth..)

They can't just ban .223 cause it was supposedly what was used in one shooting. .223 is just as much for bolt guns as AR's.

I don't think "they" will BAN 223, or even AR type Rifles, but I *DO* think we can expect to see much higher ammo prices in future, in the form of new taxes, and for the next year at least, simply from lack of supply.

Fixed it for ya. :D

I picked up the last 2 boxes of Remington Golden bullets (225 ct) for $10 each at my local Walmart here in St. Louis last night. I asked the worker if/when more would be available and he was really rude about it. He said he didn't know and just puts it out there. I'll take what I can get at this point and yes, the shelves looked pretty darn bare..lol Rather sad!

Picked up my 15-22 in a WalMart in SC ($447) yesterday...kind of an impulse purchase, been thinking about one before the panic, figured I better grab it while I can.
They had NO .22 ammo though, good thing I already had plenty. My big challenge now is finding extra mags.

My guess is that since Dick's stopped all sales of 'sporting rifles', that they would stop selling the ammo used in those rifles. Don't know for sure. Won't know either since I'll never step foot in another Dick's because of their bone-head move.

I went two days ago and they had 10 boxes of 9mm for 12$, I got 4. I went back today and they had 25-30 boxes of a blue box. I forget the name, but it was 13$ I am going back later today. The clerk said they have PLENTY this time. Some stocked and plenty in the back
