My WalMart has Federal .223 55gr fmj 100ct. boxes for $34.95 which seems like a pretty decent price for brass ammo.

Anyone used it before and have any opinions on it - good, bad or indifferent?

I might run out at lunchtime and buy a couple boxes.

Thanks!

Its good ammo, reliable, and usually accurate in most rifles. Brass may be marked Federal, or may be LC marked NATO, depending on what components they are flush with at the time.

Its good stuff but i started picking up the 20 round boxes of american eagle for 6.49 a box comes out cheaper and just as good if i can find it

Its decent ammo, i've used some of it before. Its available in store only so if you want to check the in store availability go to wallmart.com first and seach for 'Federal' in 'Sports & Outdoors" and you will find it, then click on it and it will tell you if its the store closest to you. Might save you a trip for nothing. Also, the price varies some per store.

I picked up 4 boxes of it. The accuracy compares to the Federal bulk ammo....not what I am lookingh for in accuracy...but pleanty good for hunting...I was getting 1-3/4 groups at 115 yards with it so its ok but I have to reload to get what I am looking for. (just got all the gear for that today.)

Just bought some today at my local Walmart, 100rd value pack
34.95 + tax. It looks good I"ll give it a try.The guy in the sporting goods dept. said that they have this ammo on a regular basis.

This is awesome! Thanks for posting it. I knew Walmart web site allowed to check for availability of products, but I never thought of doing the same for ammo...for some reason. Now I don't have to waste time stopping by just to check ammo availability!!! :D

Pointing out the obvious...I guess...but it's needed sometimes. :)

It's not always perfect though. Last weekend I went to our camp to hunt and stopped by the Walmart near it (about 100mi) from my house to buy some - having checked online before leaving to verify they had some - and they were totally out of stock and had been for some time according to the guy at the counter. I ended up buying it at my local Walmart when I got home.

The local wally world here doesn't get in **** for ammo and sells no guns except pellet guns.

with .223 case scarcity prevelant,
this is the cheapest way to get a hundred cases to reload.
100 remington empty cases are ~$30,
so you are shooting factory for $.10@,
then getting 100 cases to reload 6-8 times.

I wish our local Walmart carried ammo. All the store carries is very limited quanities of .22 LR and shotgun shells, and those are hidden under the counter. The store manager is very anti-gun. I have to drive 40-50 miles to find a Walmart that carries ammo, and they are usully sold out. The only local gunstore is way over priced and has limited selection. That leaves ordering over the internet and paying high shipping costs. The same goes for reloading components.

My Walmart doesn't even sell 100 count boxes of .223 ammo. All I can find there is the small boxes of Tula. Then again, the Walmarts in southern IL aren't exactly gun friendly (they don't sell firearms).

Great ammo but its always sold out here in California and there are 17 stores in a 50 mile radius where I live!

gonna have to seriously consider reloading. Everywhere here in the Bay Area is out or really expensive. My buddy reloads and constantly tells me what he is paying per round. With .223 the margin wasn't as great but now it is sure starting to look like it makes sense and would assure consistent supply of ammo.
