walmart stabbings

Depends on the jurisdiction; and the totality of the circumstances.
Not for me, I'm afraid. If me or mine are in danger, I'll act appropriately to protect us. But for others I'm not risking legal charges, civil suits or a stubbed toe. Thank the anti-gun crazies at all levels of society.

Exactly what state would that be?
When we lived there that was the state of Kentucky’s policy/law concerning the use of deadly force…only to protect yourself or member of your immediate family. I do not believe that’s Louisiana’s law.

Although I may agree that violence doesn’t carry a map, if it did, a Walmart in Compton, CA would have a bright red star on it! Compton, CA is a lot different than most of Ohio. I shop some Walmarts as well, but I pick and choose them based on past experience, surrounding areas, etc. I’m not going looking for trouble.
All the Wal-Marts in my area around Springfield, MO are pretty okay, safety wise. There is one, on the north side of town that has some pretty sketchy and weird-looking variations of the human species come and go, but considering the sheer volume of customers that Wal-Mart has, there is not a whole lot of bad stuff going on there.

My wife retired from Wal-Mart this spring (believe it or not she can walk and chew gum and doesn't drool much). I would leave for a day spent at police stations, prisons, nuke plants and government labs and she would tell me to "be careful". I thought that was cute.

Re: masks. In uniform my name was visibly displayed below my badge. At some point in making any arrest (and nearly all contacts) in plainclothes I displayed my ID and my name was on every search warrant. Threats were made, attempts were made, on me and my family. None were successful. I promised myself I would not get drawn into a "back in my day" critique of current trends in LE training, equipment or attitude toward the public, so that's all I have to say on that subject.

Like I said, the Walmarts in other states are probably just fine. I know that the fast food places are staffed with great people. I would be a Waffle House guy if we had one here. In Calif the decisions are made by people who don't go to Walmart, in fact they don't ever go to a grocery store. They have other people who handle the pedestrian stuff...

I deleted a number of replies.

This started as a report about two Marines (one with a handgun) who detained a lunatic that had just stabbed 11 people.

It morphed into a harsh critique of LE and our enforcement policies concerning illegal aliens. That's unacceptable, against our rules and not why we're here.

Another thread locked....
