Walmart to stop selling AR style rifles?

I remember when Western Auto, Winns and Woolworths also sold guns and ammo.:(

The very first gun I ever bought was a single shot 22 rifle from Montgomery Wards (or maybe Sears) in the early 60s when I was in my early teens. It was shipped right to the house.

Of course, nowadays I can't be trusted to do stuff like that.

How did we ever manage to survive living through those wild and crazy times???

I was a day late. I went to a local WM yesterday afternoon that I
knew carried a few different brands of ARs. Looked in the glass front
racks where they keep the rifles and shotguns and the corner where
the ARs reside was empty. I asked the two clerks in the area and they
said the story was true, ARs were being cleared out. They still had
five Bushmasters and Diamonds yesterday morning but they all sold
before I got there in the afternoon. They went cheap, Diamonds were
$350 and the others were $400-$500. One clerk said he wanted one
but store policy made him wait for 24 hrs before buying after sale
prices were listed and they were all gone.

The superstore I worked for quit selling guns as they were slow movers and difficult to always have someone working that knew the legal paperwork involved. They weren't antigun at all but was a business decision.
Maybe Wal Mart too is heading in that direction and getting rid of their inventory now. I haven't been to our Wal Mart in awhile but a friend in Texas said they were selling ARs real cheap there too.

I made a casual walk past the gun-racks at a nearby W-M to check on .223 ammo. Had what I wanted and looked at the ARs on the racks. ALL had sale-tags on them. At least $200 off each one that I could see the prices on. I did not ask to see any specific rifles. The lady with the key for the ammo said they would soon be out of the AR game.

I was told that 'corporate policy' was shifting to get out of the 'tactical' style guns, thus they are selling them on mark down to move them out. However my local store hasn't carried AR's or anything of the kind for a couple years now anyway. Each store manager can make the call not carry a certain product at their location.

I checked last week for a 15-22. Went to the 3 Walmarts nearest me with no luck. Ordered one from one of the big online dealers. Tonight I was in one of those same stores and there was one in the case for $299.99. So if you are looking for an AR cheap keep checking. Told a friend about this one, hope he gets there in time.

I was just at my Wal-Mart all the AR type rifles are still locked in their cabinet and not on sale. They did have some 9mm value packs.

At my store they did not have "Sale" or "Clearance" tags, just much lower prices.
