The other day I bought a S&W M&P 15-22 at a local gun dealer in San Antonio. I paid $559.89 before taxes. Today I see the same gun at Walmart for $427.
I feel like I was ripped off.
Is the gun at walmart different in any way?
The clerk did not know.
I understand that walmart does get some products specially made for them and that's why they can sell them for less.

The S&W website lists 12 diff models with an MSRP range from $499 to $769 I'm sure that Walmart has the base model and most likely an all state compliant model (10 round), it is with their full size ARs.

I agree you need to compare models I purchased the 811033 for $ 500 and my walmart has the 811030 I am sure they also get a little discount buying in quantity to. but I didnt want that model I wanted the one I got which ment buying from a FFL dealer.

Not sure of the model number but the Walmart near me, central fl area, has the same price. It does have the flash compensator on the end of the barrel though.

Would definitely know which version of the M&P 15-22 you purchased... I picked up my MOE FDE from the LGS for ~$500...

For that price I would hope you got the MOE version of the 15-22!

Even in a given location, prices can vary greatly. The local Sportsman's Warehouse charges $539 for the MOE. Palmetto Armory charges $559, but often gives 10% off. Lawmen's sells them for $474, but didn't have any on stock when I was looking. I ended up getting one at Palmetto Armory when they went on sale for $479. The MOE has a list price of $609, so I don't think that's too bad. But again, location.

A friend who just moved from Michigan mentioned today that target pistols like the Ruger he got was far cheaper in MI, but most self defense guns he checked were much higher. Go figure! :-)

I really dislike when people say other people got ripped off our payed too much. Every state and every LGS has different prices. If you want that rifle or hand gun, either do research on prices or just buy it. Just because the rifle is $475 online im sure you have to pay an ffl fee and possibly a transfer fee. So that would up the price to what your LGS would charge. I dont buy rifles or handguns online so I'm just speculating.

Prices are all over the place in CFL right now. I paid more than the WalMart price recently but that's to be expected. You just never know when WalMart is going to get one in. I saw one in the Sanford store for the first time in about 12 months. They are also now carrying the DPMS AR and the Sig .22. Great to see but it's hit or miss.

I didn't like that I paid more but I've decided to chalk it up as lesson learned, buy lots of ammo and enjoy the 15-22. It's a great rifle so enjoy it!

560 before taxes is a little bit steep unless you got the MOE or PC model.

Yes. I do agree that it is a bit steep. I paid $500 OTD for my wifes pink camo 15-22 at a gun show. And $600 OTD from my LGS for my MOE FDE 15-22. Some might say I paid too much. When I bought my MOE they just received 10 that day. FDE and black. They sold out by the time I filled out my paperwork. Some were on hold for costumers. But they went quick.

Todays gunbroker prices are from $420 for a standard to $569 for a MOE.. Then of course the ~$25 shipping and whatever transfer and NICS you have to pay.. I got a "friend of the shop" deal from my LGS on a MOE.. Out the door was $568 I believe. We have 10% sales tax so that hits hard, but I like to do business locally when I can.. Ron

PS: I just sold the BUIS for $75, so that effectively gives me back the tax and TICS.. I'm happy..

Ok, help me out here. What is MOE and FDE?
I know I do not have the Performance Center model. It is not stamped with those words.
My receipt does not state the SKU#. I will call the dealer today to verify what I purchased.

In Ohio Fin, Feather and Fur Outfitters has the threaded barrel version for $429.99 the last few months. They have what i feel are good prices. They have a lot of weapons in stock, go in fill out the federal form, twenty minutes or less you are out the door with your new weapon. Also we all are probably guilty of overpaying for things we want right now, I will admit I have and will more than likely do it again.

MOE is-Magpul Original Equipment. FDE is-Flat Dark Earth. The color of the furniture on the rifle. Furniture being the buttstock, grip, rail accessories. I have pics of mine posted in the forum. I'm on my cell posting so I cannot post a pic at the moment. The FDE or black MOE version of the 15-22 comes with Magpul furniture, MBUS-Magpul Backup Sights, MOE grip, rail ladder grips And a matching FDE color magazine for FDE version.
