A new study, aired-out in the journal "Arthritis & Rheumatism",
claims that a chemical in broccoli, and in Brussels sprouts and
cabbage, protects the cartilage in joints from damage
caused by arthritis. Geeez,...WHO KNEW??
I hope that stuff goes good with adult beverages, just sayin'...

I don't even like people that like broccoli, evil, vile weed

Well, then, I reckon you're talkin' to me.
If it's any consolation, bro, I don't like you either.
Too bad the elements of conflict are so easily tossed about.
Methinks the world would be a better place if folks would hold off for just a second before opening their piehole.

On a brighter note, folks might look at kale as a likely alternative to brusels sprouts & broccoli.
It is of the same general family of organism, and can be consumed in a variety of ways.
One of the guys on my crew grinds up a bunch of it in his morning slurry every day. Makes a superior salad, and can be roasted into kale chips. I will say it isn't too spectacular all by itself, but when doctored up with some other stuff it is outstanding.

Broccoli and Califlower salad.

Try this, it is outstanding. Half recipe is enough for two people for two days. If you prefer, you can use florets instead of chopped.

Amish Broccoli Salad

1 head broccoli, chopped
1 head cauliflower, chopped
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 pound bacon, fried and crumbled
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Combine the chopped broccoli and cauliflower in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar, and salt to make a creamy dressing. Add the dressing to the broccoli–cauliflower mix, stirring to evenly coat the vegetables. Stir in the bacon and the cheese, reserving a small amount to sprinkle on top of the salad just before serving.

Just about 60 now and starting with Arthritis. Don't know if I buy the great medical news because I am a Broccoli Fanatic and eat tons of the stuff! Doesn't seem to work to well on me, but I eat the Broccoli because I like it - not particularly for health reasons so I guess I'll continue.

I've been eating sprouts & broccoli for decades...I like 'em.

however, my arthritis is as active and painful as ever....

OK were talking about Brussel Sprouts & broccoli I don't like Brussel Sprouts, what about asparagus I like that also steamed and fried. Ya can't beat broccoli or asparagus or any green leaf including crabgrass leaves, Yummmm

So, it won't hurt when you pull my finger.

If you're going to do that, go outside! :D:D

I love all that family of vegetables, and most any kind of greens cooked southern style. I just need to remind myself (I've lived alone for years) that I have them on hand and need to cook them.

If you haven't tried roasting Brussels sprouts, you've missed something. Brings out the sweetness.

Dana Carvey even sang a song about "Broccoli" It's got to be good. Check it out on You Tube. He was supposedly spoofing the band Coldplay. It is funny for broccoli fans though. (IMO)

GREAT BURNT BROCCOLI RECIPE:

Put a bunch of Broccoli florets in an aluminum pan (a disposable one works fine) add sliced Almonds & Garlic if you like and splash in some Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Throw it on the BBQ grill and burn it so it turns black. Absolutely delicious and take all of 10 - 15 minutes. Goes with just about anything.

^^ What Roadtrash said! :D

Brussel Sprouts grilled with salt and olive oil!! Yummy!!!

Yup. Been eating Brussels sprouts all my life. Loved 'em. But mom always made the frozen ones. The first time I had fresh sprouts... OMGosh!

As an Orthodox Pastafarian I find this lurid discussion of vegetables
not only culturally offensive but also a source of dangerous temptation.

You have been warned.

Pastafarian...Hmm...Your ideas intrigue me & I would like to subscribe to your blog!:D
