Warning-- Dillon Precision!!!!!!

What went wonky with the 650?

I have no idea. It wouldn't lift the ram/shell plate up far enough for the cases to enter the dies.

I disassembled it, lube it and reassembled it, NO joy still wouldn't go. removed the tool/die head and it still wouldn't go. I left everything except the die head attached as it was and shipped the machine to them.

They didn't tell me what was wrong but did send me a voucher with a list of parts that they replaced. In looking over the replacement parts I didn't find anything that would have cause the problem.

It could have been a combination of all of them and no one part in particular

Sounds familiar.

I got screwed by Dillon the first time I called to get a warranty replacement part for my RL-550B. I had stripped the threads for the primer holder. They refused to allow me to pay for shipping for this free replacement subassembly.

I learned my lesson: Now I always have something I want to order from the catalog when I need warranty replacement parts, that way I pay for shipping.

That'll fix'em!!! :D

I know==it's all a plan! Just like drug dealers will give a "taste" for free just to get you hooked!

I KNOW-I'm up 5 or 6 calibers now. I'm hooked! Save yourself! Bring everything to my house and we'll do an intervention!

I bought my first 550 around twenty-five years ago. I can't say enough about Dillon's Customer Service and Support. There has never been a charge to replace any part that has worn out or broken (even when I explained that it was MY fault!).
Their reputation is better advertising than any ads they could buy!

I bought my first reloading press when the 450 first came out. That was a steep learning curve for a novice who had never been exposed to any reloading at all.

I soon upgraded it with their parts to the 550, used it nearly 20 years, then sold it for more than I paid in the first place.

That financed a large part of upgrading to my 650.

They have never been anything but helpful, courteous, and professional. They get all my reloading orders because of their no BS policy.

If .gov worked as well as Dillon.precision we'd all be happy.

Anyone remember that "Ayoob Files" article in American Handgunner years ago where the robbers (or store owner) of a gun store shot a Dillon reloader with a shotgun during a robbery? The gun store sent it back to Dillon and Dillon replaced it free of charge.

A couple months later, a Dillon manager wrote a letter to the AH editor that was printed saying they had the shot up reloader "somewhere around here"!

Outstanding service, as usual.

I remember that article :-)

They do say the electronics are covered for a year, but who expects their Dillon digital scale to **** out after only a year or so? They did tell me they'd take mine back and sell me a new one for $80.00, but I didn't go for it. I found a used RCBS for $35.00 and it's still going strong.

Boo and hiss to Dillon electronic scales.

Worked in a reloading company, we loaded standard pistol stuff on Ammo Loads. Everything else on Dillons. Many times broken/damaged/just plain worn out parts were replaced no charge. Thats why I crank my 550 and smile

I've been trying to wear one out for ten years but it runs as good today as when it was new.Got tired of changing primer sizes so I got one for large and one for small.

Good News!

One of my best buds had his house burn to the ground with his 550 in the gun room. It was found in the basement in a glob of melted alloy. He called Dillon and they told him to send it in and they replaced it for free. :) Absolutely no charge.
I imagine they wanted him to return the blob so that they could determine if it was indeed one of their presses.

I purchased a used 650 last spring. When I got it home and set it up a few minor parts were missing. I called Dillon and they took care of me. Wouldn't it be nice if more manufacturers stood behind their products and treated their customers as well as Dillon.

Me too..........2 Square Deals with 6 die sets.....Once a helicoil came out with the screw when I was doing a die change. Boxed it up and sent it back.....They sent me a NEW replacement......Love them Dillons!!!!

Just a reminder, the Dillon 1050 or the Dillon Super 1050 "ARE NOT COVERED BY THEIR "NO BS WARRANTY" and I'm talking the very smallest spring that goes on them. Mike Dillon decided they are considered "COMMERCIAL LOADERS", which many of us DO NOT DO COMMERCIAL RELOADING. WE USE IT BECAUSE WE WOULD RATHER SHOOT THAN LOAD. I have been a customer since 1979, when I bought my first DILLON RL1000, THAT WAS A SOLID STAINLESS LOADER. At one time Mike wanted it back because the serial number on it was #121............CookE......

Now if they had their models do in home service work...........

In most states I think that is still called solicitation and illegal. Not too sure I want them going out of business just right now as I have a bunch of their stuff and may have warranty issues.

And their stuff is good enough without the smut.

Smut, What SMUT? Those tender morsels of EYE CANDY are good for a mans soul. Mike's reloaders and his calendars along with the Blue Press are just fine with me.:D:D:D

Keep up the Great Work Mr Dillon.

I screwed up the small primer magazine orifice a couple months back and it wouldn't drop primers. I called Dillon, told him what I needed and he said they would mail. I said here's my credit card, and he said no charge, covered under warranty. I explained that I broke it and Dillon shouldn't cover something I did. He said "No, it's covered under warranty. Have a nice day." Two days later, a small package from Dillon arrived with 3 each of the small and large orifices.

When they say No BS warranty, they mean it. I learned to reload from a buddy who has a 550. Why would I get anything else? Thanks to Dillon for great customer service.

I have noticed most gun related companies do have excellent customer service. I've dealt with Midway, Brownells, Top Gun Supply and they have all been excellent. Maybe it's that us gun folks are just old-fashioned decent people?
