The Blizzard just dumped 31 inches of snow on us last night and I spent the majority of the day plowing and shoveling the stuff. To add insult to injury, the snow plows never came through our block and most of my neighbors are stranded in their homes. Thankfully, a few of us have 4 wheel drive, but even those are iffy getting down our hilly block. I have a bit more shoveling to do tomorrow and then it's down to the reloading bench.

That looks like an iceberg.

31 inches of snow and you already have it down to the bricks?
wholy cow...and i thought i was anal about snow removal...:D

Chief, I was gonna click "Like" on your post but then I realized that it might sound as if I was "liking" your situation.

As a Southerner, I can't imagine what it's like to have to clear snow like that. You have my respect!

Hope your power stays on and the snowplows make it to your neighborhood today.

Where you at?

I had only lived in Iowa a few months when we got 11 inches. I woke up Sunday morning to no paper and a 5 foot drift in front of the front door. I shoveled the walk and around the Dodge Caravan. Then I shoveled out a Jeep that got stuck in the street. He was driving a cook to a nursing home. Later, I found out the wind had blown snow under the hood of the Caravan and when I started it the timing belt slipped. In Iowa in winter the wind comes out of the NW, so I learned to not park the car with the grille facing that way. This was in 1987. I am so glad I live in North Carolina!

Don't you just hate this global warming? :D

Actually global warming is global not local. Hence the name. A one degree change in the average global temperature may not sound like a lot, but the effects it has will change weather patterns and such. Warmer ocean water will fuel more intesne storms.

Besides, this storm seemed pretty normal anyway. I could go for a bit if intense global warming right now... About sixty degrees of it.

Chief, I'm feeling bad for ya' my friend. When you get back to the reloading bench, could you make up some .44s for me.... If you run out of stuff to do...?;)
Seriously, take it easy and don't do yourself an injury shovelling and all that. We're thinkin' of you down here. God bless.

Todays society is full of wimps! Today it appears that everyone shops daily for groceries and does not stock up on basics. I am nearly 81 years old and was brought up on a Maine farm. We had these type of snow storms several times each winter and there were a few times that were were not plowed out for over a week. Not a problem as mother had every thing needed to get along well for the rest of the winter. I can remember snow drifts so high and hard the town had them bulldozed as the huge v-plows were unable to break through. In those days there were snow fences to try and stop the drifting, but it still drifted. We are now a society of wusses!

What's all the fuss? It'll all be gone by the 4th of July.

Look at the bright side for now, I'll bet you're not swatting mosquitoes!!!!!

Yeah, and you walked uphill to school both ways "barefooted"
too right ?? When these storms hit "several" times each winter
exactly how far did you drive to work? Wish i was as hard as
some of the members think they are.
Good luck to all still digging out and without power.

Chief - The rule out here is "God put it there, God will take it away".

Naturally that doesn't always work out for us! Glad to hear your doing OK and looks like you got it down to the pavement - so when the plows come through - a couple of hours to clean up the stuff they plow into your driveway - and you are good to go!!

You guys need to go to church more often :D been a wierd year for you out there!

She's still shooting that M37!!

Parts of Long Island like the South Shore (a half hour away) only got 8 or 9 inches. On the North Shore we got clobbered! 31" measured!
STILL NO SNOW PLOW DOWN OUR STREET - NOT HAPPY!!

I am officially done shoveling and plowing and I am beat to ****!!!
