Seems kind of unseemly to be saluting ourselves. Is "we" another country or countries we have helped? Or is the above what we wish other countries would say to us? (Good deeds should be done because they are the right thing to do, not because we expect the gratitude of others.)

Who is the author of the above. I tried Googling but it did not pop up.

We is me and my family, who have been in this beautiful country for over 100 years, who have stood shoulder to shoulder with other Americans in three wars, and who sincerely appreciate the freedoms we enjoy because of the good people in America
