Got to New Orleans late Wednesday-around 8:30. Checked in with duffle and Ice Chest full of beer and a bottle of scotch. Went to the Casino and some cow sitting next to me calls a $100 bet into a $200 pot drawing to an inside straight against my middle set and catches the damn thing on the river.
so it's starting off on a good foot. Go back to the hotel and drink scotch ans watch TV.
Thursday night the seminar gets out at 8, so I go people watching on Bourbon. Hot, muggy, the ground is sticky, you can smell that stench of rotten garbage, stale vomit and cigarettes mingled in with the occasional waft of cheap hooker perfume-I'm back home again
Wind up at the old absinth House and have a rip snorting hangover for Friday.
Wife comes in Friday night-go to Pat O'Briens for old times sake and then to The Bourbon House for some Oysters Rockefeller and a wonderful fresh tuna tasting plate. Wife has a lump crabmeat stuffed drum-I have really forgotten just how good New Orleans food is and the Brennan family really does it right.
Saturday I finish up the seminar check out and go out to the lakefront to the club for margaritas and fried seafood.
Oh yea.....also went to a seminar.
Of course had I known that there was a ceiling on the parking and meal reimbursements-I wouldn't have had hot and cold running valets parking the suburban and carrying up my ice chest to my room-nor would I have ordered so lavishly at the resturants-oh well it was still all good.
Some observations:
It's either me becoming more discerning (read older) or something in the water because the strip seemed a bit skankier than I remembered (ditto for the hookers).
People watching is still the best part!
Music is still first rate.
I still won't eat a lucky dog
They still have the "go cup" I grew up with.
I need to be aware of bathroom locations a it more now than at age 25-peeing in a corner is no longer an option.
Momma won't go into Larry Flint's club with me-nor will she let me just take a peek inside. (course I told her that I stayed in my room Wed & Thurs night and studied for the seminar)
Well back to the real world-the kool-aide from the seminar now pretty much cleansed from my system.
And you know what?????? I made a withdrawal from my account today and the balance after withdrawal was $4,473.
Is that God's way of telling me to buy a gun or what??????????
