Question, Will it be extremely difficult to remove that front sight?

EDIT: I no longer wish to remove the front sight. leaving the question there so all of the answers still make sense to anybody reading thread.

Wow! Found a rifle and ammo on one stop?!!

As far as your question on removing the sight, why? If you want to put on an extended quad rail, you would be better off cutting the front sight down with a dremel tool. This will allow you to retain the pinned gas block, just be careful to not cut too much off. Many tutorials on youtube...

Enjoy your new rifle!

In addition to what the others said, you need the front sight as a back up should your optic go out. AR types are difficult to aim with no optic/red dot and no front sight.

The value of co-witnessing would cause me to not cut the sight off. I'm learning quite a bit since installing an Eotech on my Magpul edition. The irons can be a life saver if your red dot or scope fails. Just suggesting to think long and hard before committing to the saw. Good luck!

You would only cut it off if you were planning to put an extended rail over it and mounting some other type of back up sight.

Thanks guys, took a look at some vids and decided not to remove the front sight.

As far as finding the rifle and ammo in one stop, my LGS had 38 various AR's in stock yesterday and reserved enough ammo for gun purchasers to buy up to 100 rounds per gun purchase. They said they weren't going to sell somebody a boat paddle.

Also, does the Sport have any "wobble" between the upper/lower receiver when attached like the mil spec Colts? I hear this is pretty normal in most AR, just curious if the S&W does the same.

Probably will vary a little from rifle to rifle, but my Sport was the opposite. Upper and lower were quite tight, with no play.

Can be "futzy", you have to drive out a pin and then replace it with a low gas block (it's not just a sight). Any particular reason why? If you're worried about interference you can get risers for optics that will clear the sight.

My M&P 15 has some play between the upper and lower. Not sure if its normal but, seems to operate fine.

Use to think the play between the upper and lower were the cause of poor groups at 25yds. It was not, it was a bad barrel from the factory. either get use to the play, or put in rubber orings around the front pin.

It makes the gun tighter but no difference in the shot.

Glad to see that handgun ammo is showing up on the shelves again. I saw a few boxes of S&W 40 at the LGS just this morning.

:D

By the way, nice rifle. ;)
