Went to local shop today and saw something too stupid not to share

Buy it cheap, dump the stocks, and hopefully, it shoots well. Then use it was a truck gun.

Bought one something like that a week ago. Cleaned it up and changed the grips. It started life as a Colt New Service in .455. Someone chopped the barrel and turned it into a .45 Colt. Shoots well, will make a good truck gun or night stand gun. All heads turn at the range when it goes off!

I would be tempted to Fitz that one...

Chopped S&W BSRs

This gun has all of the characteristics of an S&W BSR that has been altered into a snubbie.

I remember during the last few years before GCA 68 how these would show up in gun magazine adds at very low prices. Unfortunately in addition to altering the barrel and refinishing there is the alteration to the cylinder to take a .38 SPL round.

For awhile there were a lot of original S&W BSRs on the market at a low price. The .38 S&W caliber was considered a negative. I remember seeing nice BSRs sit in our local dealers case for a long time waiting for a buyer. So just like the P-14 Enfields , Type 99s , Mausers and other surplus stuff these guns were not yet appreciated for what they are and a lot of them were abused or butchered.

I have one, I call it my Lee Harvey Oswald Special, it was given to me, I added period correct slightly warped Franzinite (sp) grips to complete the package. Believe or not is shoots 38 S&W cartridges very well.

So that would be....

the super rare "Single Lock"!! Let me know if you find the even rarer "No Lock" , load and shoot at the same time! ;)

I can't wait for the "Too stupid to share" thread :D

Seven replies and no one mentioned (yet) that it appears to be a chopped and nickeled WW II K-200 British Service Revolver. Also probably reamed to .38 Special. Just missing the plastic stag-like stocks. :(

Exactly!! Only in this case they pimped out that set of grips to turn it into the ultimate 60's era pimp gun!............. Just wow is all I can say.

These are the grips that came on mine when I bought it. Had another New Service with nicer grips. Changed the appearance considerably.

Those plastic stags must have been all the rage at one time. I have picked up 2 N frames wearing them.

If any one wants to create that retro look let me know

Mine went into my junk box. May need the screw and nut out of them at some time in the future.

Not to my taste. I maintain the opinion people should do whatever they want their guns and their money. Doesn't need to have my approval.

Do we know what the white part is? it could be something easily removed to restore the grips, Sure looks like nice wood. If the gun could be had cheap enuf.
