Lisa's 90 year old mother was moved to an assisted living apartment and we've been going out every weekend for the last coupla months to work on clearing out her house. She was a bit of a hoarder and we've been bringing truckloads of stuff home to organize, recycle, donate to Goodwill and throw away.
While still making time to go to the gym.
She died late last night so there's no hurry anymore to sell the house to pay for her care. We'll still keep going out and doing our thing to get the house cleared out.
Dunno when the funeral is yet.

Sorry for your loss. I'm of the belief that her passing is truly her gain!

My Mom turned 91 last Saturday, My concern is that she falls almost every day, and the care givers won't find her until too late to be of any good.

Since the time pressure is off, now you can stop to enjoy the stories behind the family treasures you find burried in the strangest places.

Sorry for your loss. Hopefully recount some good times clearing out her history.

About a year before my Mom died she asked me, "When I die what are you going to do with all my stuff?" I told her -
1. We'll keep some
2. We'll sell some
3. We'll donate a bunch
4. The rest gets thrown away
What else can you do.
May your MIL rest in peace.

Wayne, my sincere condolences to you and Lisa foir your loss. I know where you're at with cleaning out the house. My son and I had to do likewise when my parents passed. A very bitter-sweet experience.

Prayers up for your comfort, acceptance, and forbearance.

Prayers sent for Lisa and you.. went through the same thing with my mother-in-law... was getting to the point of selling her house to pay for her care as well.. a bittersweet moment.. you have my sympathy...

Sorry to hear about her passing. I have been slowly going through all the stuff in Mom's house where we live for the last 8 months or so. Mostly to clear the clutter and make it safer for Mom now that dementia has taken a toll on her balance. She is a bit of a hoarder as well. Should have the house cleaned up by this fall and I can start on the garage when the weather cools again later this year. It really is amazing how much stuff can be accumulated and stored away in all the corners and closets.
