I've been trying to come up with it all weekend. I KNOW the chorus sounds like another song from back in the day.

I'm thinking, The Eagles.
Perhaps "Take It Easy," or one of the songs off their "Desperado" album: "Certain Kind of Fool" or "Whatever Happened to Saturday Night."
Sounds Eagle-ish to me.

Sorry, but there was no popular music worth listening to in the 70s.

Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel and selected bluegrass groups recorded some nice stuff, but it rarely became "popular," except among us old traditionalists.

First thing that came to mind was Lynard Skynards "The Ballad of Curtis Lowe", then it shifts into a James Taylor sound. It may not be what some remember as country, but it sure ain't "Bubble Gum Pop", I like it.

I'm not much for country but what I do notice is the much higher level of production value of the stuff over any other type of rock/rap/etc.?
So no opinion, other than very professionally done! Not knowing much about it, also leads me to think that this may be where rock "went" after the other genre's took over?

If there are any fiddles or steel guitars in there, the mixing guy should have his butt kicked. I can't hear them.

That might remind some of a 70's song, but nothing I listen to from the 70's sounds like that. It ain't Boston, and it ain't Waylon.

How can you say such a thing when Van Halen I and II were from the 70s, Boston's debut album was from the 70s, The Who, Led Zepplin.... I could go on.

Well we didn't find out what song it sounds like but we DO know what members are to young to remember the GOOD rock of the 1970's!
