What song lyric strikes a deep truth for you ?

Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails wrote this but Johnny made it his.

Poignant.

Johnny Cash - Hurt - YouTube

Good old Johnny had one written for him by Glen Danzig as well.
It's not often you hear of a legend of that magnitude giving props to those across the fence as Cash did. But then, that's probably part of what made him a legend.

Rusty ... as a fellow musician, this one isn't necessarily a lyrically potent piece, but it has an interesting aesthetic.
It's quite the eye opener when deconstructed.
Back in the day, some serious blood sweat and tears even went into the bubble gum pop.
I'm not sure if I've ever seen a progression so convoluted as this in any genre.

True lyricists spin tales that quickly grab you and stay long after the telling is done. They are poets/artists that paint with carefully chosen words.

Try to imagine where Elton would be without Bernie.

Yep but it's gotta have a hook to make it memorable

Wow !! ... I thank EVERYONE for your great contributions. Some songs/lyrics are old friends I have not visited in a while. Some are NEW friends of which I was not really aware. Many strike that same emotional chord for me as they do for you ......

"Ah, but then one night in some empty room
Where no curtains ever hung
Like a miracle some golden words
Rolled off of someone's tongue"

Memories/moods can make me recall the poignancy in various verses.

Although I can be just as easily moved by an instrumental passage.

Lately, the tragedy in Maui has "The Last Resort" by the Eagles looping in my brain.
