I might catch flak for referring th the Dixie Chicks (NOT the
chicks) but here goes:
Travelin' Soldier
Brings back memories of my youth.
Summer of '67 I had just graduated. I tried to join the Marines.
I was rejected (One kidney) but a lot of my friends joined and
ended up in Southeast Asia.
Some came back OK. Some came back crippled. Some came
back in a box. I felt guilty for years.
This song makes no political statement. It only sings of things
that young people in love feel, and how some things just don't
work out.
Some that comes to mind"Time Stand Still" by Rush. "Time" by Pink Floyd. "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas. "Yesterday" by The Carpenters. And I can't forget my class song from 1979, "Life's Been Good" by Joe Walsh
How the Hell can someone go to work in the morning
Come home in the evening and have nothing to say.
Make me an angel that flies from Montgomery.
Make me a poster of an old rodeo.
Just give me something that i can hold onto.
To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.
