What are these grips?

Have a Fuzzy Farrant vibe but I do not think they are.
Pretty cool though like the different checkering pattern and diamond inlays. Ivory or plastic?

There is a lot going on with those grips but I don't think they are any of the makers we normally see. They look to be highly figured rosewood and the "slot" is for the front corner of the frame to just barely stick out, to minimize the size of the bottom. Never seen checkering on the base of the grip and it is finely executed. Could we get a pic of the back of the grips, showing the checkering on the thumb rest?

The more I look at them, the more I like them. With the thumb rest, and the other wise minimal amount of wood in some places, it appears as if someone was trying to make some compact target grips.

The more I look the more I see the LAPD grip makers like Hurst, Stark and Blackford. They have a very larger filler and the screw is forward. Looks like it has somewhat of a diamond shape without the palm swells, narrowing at the bottom. Always a possibility is that someone added or modified the originals. Love to see them on a gun.

I don't know who made them, but I have a very similar style of grips, made of maple with rosewood or walnut diamond inserts. I bought them from a fellow member, and if my spotty memory is correct, he didn't know who made them either. They are also checkered on the bottom of the grip. They're actually much better looking than my overexposed photo shows:

I think you are onto something there. The inlay, the checkering, very similar. Not just the checkering on the bottom of the grip, but look how the checkering on the back strap wraps around the side of the grip at the bottom of the checkering pattern. If not a big name maker, then someone who adapts his design to what individuals want. At any rate, both are good looking grips.

I second Vtgw938's opinion that these have a lot of the LAPD grip makers characteristics with the custom checkering and the thicker left panel with the thumb rest. You scored an exceptional find.

Just a thought.... could they be Ropers? I had a lovely set of Roper grips on a Registered Magnum, and the checkering pattern on the back of the grips looks similar. ML

i think your maker is the same as mine. looking at the checkering patterns and the diamond insert, i would be shocked if they are not the same maker..... now who is this mystery man?
