I recently bought a box of miscellaneous reloading stuff at an estate sale, and in that box were these. I have no idea what they are. They're metal, the ones with the white ends are sealed with what appears to be felt, and it feels and sounds like they contain shot. No information was supplied or available from the seller. The deceased was an avid shooter and reloader involved in many shooting disciplines. Since there are many knowledgeable persons on this board, I thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone could satisfy my curiosity.

I would hazard a guess that these may be muzzle loader speed loaders. If one end is paper and the other felt, I'd suspect it is paper, black powder, then patch wrapped ball.
Those are air-shotgun cartridges for a specialty airgun made about 20yrs ago called the Fire 201.
25cal smoothbore.
I think the gun was an import from the Phillipines or Korea.
The felt on each end is a 25cal felt cleaning pellet. You dropped one into the aluminum case. filled it with shot and sealed the other end with another felt pellet.

2152hq, thank you much for that information. Nice to be able to put that mystery to rest. Unfortunately the gun wasn't available, so I'll have to ponder what to do with the "cartridges".

I would think to someone who owns one of these air shotguns, they might be worth a fair amount.

The gun is a wall piece w/o them.
It was a a fairly HV shotgun at that at around 1000fps. But it didn't afford much in the patterning dept.
I would cruise some of the airgun forums and see if there is any interest in the cartridges. Might be surprised.
That little punch like tool is for use in pushing the felt wad into place in the ends of the case .

I remember seeing ads cor them.
They were Phillipine guns. The name escapes me now.
They were pomped up by an odd system by a pumping rod with a flat knob on the forward end that slid in and out of a long tube located under the barrel. Took like a hundred pumps or so for one shot.
The guys over at GTA ( Gateway To Airguns ) can give you an info-dump on the gun in question.

Thanks to all the above replies. Yes, there seem to be people who know about everything here! Once I knew what they were, I did some reading up on the Fire 201; seems like it's pretty much a niche airgun at this point. I was thinking of putting the (what are they called?) "cartridges" on one of the auction sites, but that's good advice to check out some of the airgun sites first. Thanks again for all the input.

From my 'shotgun' buddy: "There are several Philippine, Chinese, and Korean smoothbore air shotguns floating around. If the guy is pretty sure it is a "Fire 201," then the manufacturer was Shin Sung, a Korean company. The case should measure out to be .25 cal. If the case is larger (e.g., .51 cal.) then it could be a Farco Model 470, made in the Philippines."
