I've used some beautiful and practical OWB custom holsters by Bob Mernickle, both strong side and small-of-back. My "swayback" suggested an IWB *** solution, so I just took off the retaining straps on my Soft-Armor nylon holster, and it fits securely with the metal clip over my belt & carries my S&W 33-1 J frame 4" comfortably. In cool weather, I also wear a 32-1 snubbie in a Galco Miami Classic Lite shoulder rig. The way I'm built, anything tucked in the front of my belt sticks out terribly, and anything clip-on is liable to come loose when sitting down.
