Thanks

I'd recommend the Fusion line for plastic. They have ultra-flat in 'tactical' colors.

Krylon: Products: Camouflage Paint with Fusion Technology

or

Brownell's Alumahyde II. This stuff would provide some additional protection for subsequent cleaning activities. I've gotten gun cleaning 'stuff' on painted surfaces before and it just gums up, wipes off, etc. If I was going paint my rifle, I'd use this stuff.

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1117/Product/ALUMA_HYDE_reg__II

From the description: "After full cure, Aluma-Hyde II proved solvent-proof to all but the most aggressive, copper-removing bore solvents. Aluma-Hyde II is formulated with a hard-curing epoxy base that contains additional, high-density pigment for a durable finish that sticks to all properly prepared aluminum and alloy surfaces, steel and plastics - it’s great on synthetic stocks."

Just in case you didn't know, a lot of the aftermarket add-ons are colored FDE from the factory. Stocks, grips, rails, panels, mags, etc.

Not sure if that's what you were referring to.

Thanks folks. I have a bunch of the Krylon in different camo colors, so maybe I'll try it out.

Yes I am aware of the colored parts, but I was talking about the upper and lower components, thanks

I just painted my "project" gun with Rustoleum Engine Enamel (resistent to oils) and it turned out great, plus dries super quick.
