What brand primers and why??

Any of the BIG four (Rem., win, fed, cci) work for me. I am still using Alcan primers from the 70s for large rifle. Win Large pistol has an advantage of being hot enough for ball powders so no need to keep two types. None of my pistols are light strike so the best deal per thousand or five thousand gets my money.

Winchester - not too hard, not too soft, always light, always ignite the powder, readily available. Winchester are even standard or magnum compatible.

Started in late 60's with CCI. Switched to Winchester when CCI was hard to find. Now using Wolf because of the $$ savings in cost.

My local dealer and friend, carries Winchester and I have used those for many years. From time to time, I have tried Federal or CCI and do not notice a difference.

I use Federals, you pay for what you get. Shooting Bullseye with a 32 Long gets better scores with Federal (with my gun below). CCI is next in line.

almost all my pistol and rifle loads use Federal primers. Mainly because they are the primers i started with, the load work up was done with them and they work.

Am of opion most primers work well, if your loads were developed with them.
