I voted for .357 Magnum because I carry a model 60 .357.
I usually have it loaded with 38 Special Hornady Critical Defense.
So, I probably should have voted for 38 Special.

Glock 26 Gen3 with 10+1 Critical Duty 135gr on board and usually a 17rnd mag filled with the same in a Galco pocket magazine carrier.

I own a 9mm Shield but that's the better half's carry gun.

I carried my 686 from 1985 until about 2009, when I replaced it with an M&P 9c. I am still qualified with the .357 but the 9 is easier to hide.

My M340PD lives constantly in my left pocket, usually as a backup. (I'm right handed). My M66-12 1/2" is my most carried primary.
If I have an especially dangerous Bodyguard assignment I carry my Glock 23 as a primary.

Model 19 2.5". It's coat weather so no problem being discrete with that or a Browning HP. For summertime a Desert Eagle 1911C .45 ACP in an IWB. Works between a loose, unbuttoned shirt and a tee shirt.

XDS 45. Easy to conceal. Leaves a big hole. A little heavier than most compacts but I'm a big boy.

9mm JHP is the superior round because it's relatively cheap and readily available. The reason the military use .45ACP is because they are not allowed to use 9mm JHP only FMJ.
Ok .45ACP JHP has superior stopping power but the trade off is marginal considering you can hold double the number or rounds in a 9mm mag.

I switch between three -
1) Shield 40 - Most often
2) Sig P938 - When wearing the lightest summer clothes
3) Ruger LCR 357 - When I feel like carrying an extra wheel

Well since the thread said Cal most often carried , and not gun or load :

More or less equal split of .38spl , 9mm , .45acp, oftem mixed or matched at same time. Next most common when emphasis in the woods and mtns - .45Colt .

My current prefered .45acp is Ruger P90. Still a single stack equiv size and weight to Combat Commander. Because I shoot it well , and it fits my hand better than my Combat Commander as presently configured.

My standard carry calibers are .38 special and 9mm with .38 getting carried more. You just can't beat a j frame, mine is a 642. My 9 is a SD9VE.

Also occasionally in the rotation I have a lcp .380 and my Glock 20 10mm.

Mostly .38 spec. in my S&W 642 with Buffalo Bore 158 LSWCHP standard load. Or sometime my .9mm Compact CZ 75 with 115 grain Winchester HP Silver tips.
