What defensive ammo are you carrying in your J frame?

I've been carrying CorBon .38+P 110 grainers. But if all I could get would be solids or even FMJ, I would still carry my J frame. I still believe it's not what you shoot, but how well you shoot it. I'll take a FMJ in the vitals of a criminal any day to an expanding bullet in a non vital area. I think we need to be more concerned with marksmanship and to focus on that, and worry less about the latest hi tech ammo-gizmo offering. Learn to shoot well under pressure and you won't have to worry about what ammo you're shooting. I spent several years as a sheriff's department range officer, and that's just my observations. You put 'em in the vitals, and the scum bag will go down.

Not that I would rate it as a first class defense round, but the only J frame I carry is the 2 inch .317 in .22LR - very light, 8 shots and very accurate with Lasergrips. From there I move up to the 9mm auto.

165 grain Keith or 200 gr LBT wide flat point cast over a moderate dose of 2400. Accurate, does not punish the gun (642) or shooter but is a real killer on beasts bigger than men.

I too like to shoot the 200 grain blunt nose bullet in my Model 36. Even though it is slow, it will not be stable when it hits and will likely tumble. I do not think you can go wrong with a blunt heavy bullet in a 38 snub.
However, I often carry the Rem 158 LSWCHP as well and that is probably my second pick.

I carry Mag-Safe Agent loads in my little Scandium 2 1/2". Back-up speed loaders carry Triton 110 gn. HPs.

I use the Speer 135 gr GD in my 642. It shoots very close to point of aim in that particular revolver and it shows no sign of bullet jump. In my steel frame Js and Ks, I use the Remington 158 gr LSWCHP. From what I am reading here, that puts me pretty much in the middle of the pack.

Just hit the Target

I carry RBCD Performance Plus, Golden Saber, Hornady Crital Defense, Hydra Shok and Corbon DPX. I like all of them. No need to get to technical with each type round because all will do what is expected. Bottom line is you must hit your target. If you can't hit what you aiming at, it doesn't matter what you load in the "J".
