What defensive ammo are you carrying in your J frame?

It's really not that hot. I shoot it in my K frames because it is VERY accurate. About the same recoil as a hot 125 or a 158 LHP+P.

dad's old: Winchester Personal Defense 125gr sjhp .38 spl +p

dad's new: Winchester Silvertip 110gr jhp .38 spl (early arthritis)

mine: Winchester Personal Defense 125gr sjhp .38 spl +p or Remington Express 158gr lswchp .38 spl +p

Today, my 40-1 is loaded with Speer 135gr. Gold Dots. My more frequent ankle gun, a 342, is loaded with Safe Stop +P 148gr. plated wadcutters. I've also been known to carry 158gr. LSWC +Ps or Cor-Bon 110gr. DPX.

Buffalo Bore's standard velocity 158 gr LSWC-HP is in the airweight 442, with a speed strip full of Speer Gold Dot 135 gr short barrels for a reload. The jacketed Speers don't get deformed as easily in the speed strip as the soft lead of the BB load.

I use Federal 38G load. It's a Plus P 158 LSWHP ( FBI Load ). Shoots good in my 642.

I was able to pick up several boxes at Ammo to Go. Good doing business with them. From what I can tell, they don't price gouge like one or two others I seen.

Best

hey ajr969 you could carry your speed stips in a speed strip wallet. Dillon sells them for about 28 bucks a pop. They work well for me.

Speer 135 gold dot short barrel in my 340pd

I load three Rem 38+P 158gr LSWC-HPs and 2 Speer .357 Short Barrels in my 340pd. My speed strip reload contains five .357 Short Barrels.

SigP220 I have 14 boxes of the 147 Hydrashocks. Just bought a Model 60 last month but have not tried them yet they are on the list. How long have you been using that bullet choice?

In my 38 J's, I am using Corbon DPX 110gr or Gold Dot SB 135gr. In my PC 640-1 I am using Gold Dot SB 357mag.

I use 125gr. CorBon DPX .357's in my 640 and also in my back up 340M&P.

It's a "mid level" .357 that probably gives me around 1100 fps. in my short J's. It's pretty managable in the 640 and a little stout in the 340. I practice with the 640 and carry it as my main gun. I usually only carry the 340 as my New York reload. Occasionally I do carry it in a coat pocket or a belly band.

Both have Crimson Trace lasers and I sighted them in for the 125gr. ammo. The iron sights are a little high from the factory for this particular load. But it's close enough for government work for a case when the laser doesn't come on for some odd reason (not likely IMO).
