Prolly 90% of those who chose "Other" are folks using 45acp!!! ;)

I carry a S&W 4506 in a shoulder rig with 2 spare mags on the opposite side....
(MFG'd by "Master")

Has a few advantages.......
1) I have a bad back... a tighter belt used when IWB'ing hurts my back
2) I drive a fair amount... access is better than IWB/OWB
3) Gun, Spare mags and Flash Light are all on one Holster System.. easy to grab one setup and everything is on it than typical Belt, IWB, Mag Pouch AND Put your pants on!!

When I'm licensed and after a lot of research and buying trading and shooting guns I think I'm going with my 9c or a Ruger LCP custom, depending.

Question, thoughts, comments:
If you have fired "several" times using 357 under conditions that wouldn't likely permit hearing protection, how are your ears holding up? I would LOVE to carry a 357 but I fear my hearing would be destroyed completely if I ever had to use it. I carry a 9mm and worry about that! I already have significant hearing damage from a single shot from a deer rifle.

I consider my risk level for actual defense to be relatively low.

I've fired a duty .357 several times without ear protection and it didn't damage my hearing.

My 642 goes with me IWB everywhere I can carry. If I need more, I throw on a Bond Arms Rustic Ranger in .38/.357 in a cross draw rig.

However, I am strongly thinking about adding a Springfield Armory XD-Mod 2 3.3" in .45 ACP to the mix. Never have had a .45 and kinda have a hankering for one.

But should it?

Devils advocate....shouldn't you carry the same weapon all the time? Get proficient, comfortable and accurate with one weapon and stick with it. Why switch back and forth and add one more layer of "thinking" about which gun you are carrying in case you ever need to use it.

I have to smile and shake my head every time someone makes this comment lol. Sorry - it's just one of those memes that often pops out of people's mouths (because It appears to make sense) which I no longer take seriously. Reminds me of the military personnel who used to say, "well, they don't have to respect me, but they have to respect my rank!" I never met a leader worth a damn who had to resort to that excuse.

I've also heard to beware the man who only owns one gun because he really knows how to use it. No, I've seen hundreds of one gun owners ho were only dangerous because they had no idea what they were doing.

If you sufficiently train with a weapon you react correctly when it's in your hand. If you have to think to make it operational, you haven't trained enough with it. Keep training with multiple weapons, and each will be ready when you need it.

My HR 218 Carry Guns

Under the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) of 2004, I carry the H&K P2000 SK. For my backup, a S&W 340 Sc. Concealable but powerful.

M&P45 4" with two spare mags. Was pretty die hard with the 1911's, but I decided to try the M&P and it seems to have stuck. No reason to haul around a $1500+ `1911 when a $500 M&P does all I need it to do and has 2 more rounds per mag.

Off duty carry weapon

I have many S&W revolvers but recently decided to carry
a Glock 17 Gen 4 in 9mm , I feel it is best to carry off duty
the same type weapon as on duty.
However, I always will keep a S&W revolver close by around the
house and as a back up weapon if needed, a model 36, really like the little gun..

Love my MP40

I feel comfortable with my M&P FS .40. "Creative packaging" with what I have on is needed to make the conceal work, but if I am going to need protection I want to know that I have something I can use effectively. ;)
