What do you do that would be considered cheap?

I buy some Store Brands.
And did you know that the Base commissary has its own ‘store’ brand?
I also buy some of those.

I don't consider myself cheap...but, having recently dealt with both my father's and brother's estates, I threw out the single ply TP that both of them bought and used. IMO, single ply TP users are cheap.
Let the TP bashing begin...

Signed,
TP Snob
;)

Amen, brother. I was lucky in that the worse thing that happened to me during Covid was being reintroduced to the horror of single-ply toilet paper, out of necessity.

I reuse paper plates too. We use plastic grocery bags as small trash can liners and for policing dog doo.

My favorite part of the grocery store is the reduced section and I do a fair amount of shopping at estate sales. I haven't paid more than $2 for a roll of aluminum foil in almost 10 years!

I have Scottish blood from my fathers side of the family. ;)

Have been lnown to clean and reuse paper plates..but my wife and I do some shopping at the thrit food stores . Nothing major but we typically buy OM bacon under 3 bucks a pound JD sausage and some canned foods too..The use by dates are not cast in stone for everything...she buys some candy there too. She just got a big bag...big...of candy corn 3 bucks or so.....only take 6 months to eat it

I get a lot of my clothes from thrift stores and the clearance racks at Wallyworld. One of the local churches has a free clothing room, it is always packed with donated clothes. Earlier this week I donated 2 boxes of clothing and left with 2 pair of jeans and 2 sweaters. One of the sweaters is cashmere.
I figure this balances my expensive shoes and boots.
And yes, sometimes I reuse paper plates since I no longer have a plate licking dog.

I drive old trucks and cars
My newest vehicle is 23 years old my oldest is 43
I get more compliments than the guy in a current model truck :-)
A gm 01 sbrc fleet side a gm 02 sbrc step side and an 82 cutlass supreme
I believe in paying small cash for vehicles (4-5k) find the best condition and appearance then fix and maintain
even the big repairs are fairly cheap compared to a new vehicle

I'll reuse paper plates provided the previous food didn't leave anything smeared on there that might go bad.

I have used teabags twice for as long as I can remember. Started that habit because of the strength of PG Tips teabags in the UK. You could easily make tea for two with one teabag.

Plastic shopping bags become small bin liners. I thought everyone did that.

I draw the line at single ply TP. Some things are just wrong.

The 'thrifty Scots' comments remind me of a comment made about a former boss. "He's like a Glasgow pawnbroker with the generosity chip removed."

My most used sweatshirt is about 40 yrs old, and carhart don't make em like they used to. Am recycling Ziploc freezer bags. Am still going through t-shirts saved over the last almost 50 yrs. One of theses years might actually wear my 3 mile island party tee.
