What do you give your kids for Xmas?

My first choice is a quality 8" Chef knife and paring knife if a whole set was too much money. Next, would be quality pots and pans, e.g., Cuisinart or All Clad.

Start them out with quality that will last a lifetime.

Cooking at home will save them hundreds every year.

In THE REAL WORLD, they need a fair watch. You cannot keep checking the time in a staff meeting by checking your cell phone!

In 1974, I received a nice Cross Pen & Pencil set, but "The under 30's" won't understand their value (or status) for a few more years.

The pocket knife/SAK is very realistic, provided they actually know how to use and care for one. My wife and daughter use theirs' regularly. My 3 D-I-L's haven't a clue!

Depends on their needs/wants. This year son said he needed new clothes and shoes for work so he got cash. Other years he's gotten several nice guns, a stainless Ruger 10/22, an HK USP 40, and a S&W Model 66-1. One year was about 700 rounds of .40 ammo that I bought at an auction way below cost.
Daughter usually gets a piece of jewelry, maybe come clothes.
And homemade goodies.

Christmas baskets

When our children started leaving the nest & had nothing my wife came up with the idea for a laundry basket filled with stuff you need everyday. Towels, laundry detergent, soap toilet paper, maybe a ham, and some personal items. We did this for several years and one year we decided that project had run its course as they could all afford to get what ever they wanted. Boy were they disappointed that year, it had become a game that they all enjoyed seeing what was in the baskets. So every year since we have continued the tradition and they love it. Now they also get money.
God bless you all and Merry Christmas

I don't have any children, but I have two nephews. One of them is still in college and the other one is an independent adult. Shipping has always been an issue with the older one's presents in the past because I was giving him a few boxes of shells for one of his guns. But now he determined not to risk shooting it. It would be easy to send checks, but I want to show that I did something special for them. So this year each of them will be getting a Christmas card stuffed with a stack of $2 bills in a significant amount. I figured NOBODY else in the family would be doing something like that.

Two stacks of $2 bills got sent today.
