What do you like best about your home state?

I live in the dreaded downstate part of New York...New York City...as far as I'm concerned, the best part of living here will be leaving it. I cast my eyes (and my job search) towards Vermont!

Raised in Winston-Salem and NJ. About the latter, nil nisi bonum (that's Latin for "watch your mouth about dead folks"). Twenty five years in the Navy, mostly in VA & FL, but some time in CA & DC. Never lived in TN, but every time I passed through there, somebody showed me what a great state it is.

I don't know what my home state is, but even MA has a nice area called Cape Cod, which I was recently told has the highest per capita incidence of carry permits in the state.

Well growing up near family yellow perch fishing on Lake Erie. But my true love is Michigan traveling that state I always feel at home. Western shore line near Whitehall and up the coast line from there.

I grew up in western WA, left after high school and didn't come back for 15 years. Lived in all parts of the country and the world (thanks to Uncle Sam and others). I like it here the best (climate, lack of poisonous critters, no tornadoes or hurricanes, (yes there are earthquakes and volcanoes) what I don't like is the political bent, but there are a lot of the state that is to my preference in that respect, I can always drive away from the city.):D

To all those who have said they want to move South, come on down. NC has I77, I85, and I95 that will take you straight to SC, GA, FL........without stopping. Besides we have enough "moved in" people already. We are full. No Vacancy. We ain't leavin the light on for yah. Good night from the Goodliest Land.

ill make dam sure all of obamas buddys head for NC cause an attitude like that you deserve all the jerks that will go.and in az we have tons of m60s f18s,to keep unamerican dipsticks away from our state.

You know? I think I'll die here in the Southern Appalachian Mountains... because I will already be in Heaven!

It's not California or New York.

OK, so I love everything about California except the people. No kidding, when I grew up (not born here) it was politically conservative and a natural wonderland. It's still an incredibly beautiful state with everything from blistering hot deserts to alpine meadows and 14K peaks, with everything in-between.

I remember surfing at the beach in the morning and skiing the mountains in the afternoon of the same day.

I now live in the Sierra foothills and can drive short distances to lakes in the valley for sailing or 10K peaks for hiking, fishing and hunting. State of Jefferson 51 declaration petition formation

It may be time to say a few good words about the Prairie State. There isn't much wrong with Illinois that getting rid of Cook County wouldn't cure. We have great duck and goose hunting, Lake Michigan and Mississippi River fishing, and if you can afford it, huge deer in Pike County. Good deer hunting almost anywhere in the state. The Grand American Trapshooting Tournament, lots of opportunities for skeet and trap, both registered and casual. No state income tax on social security, pensions, or IRA disbursements.

The best thing...from where I live, twenty minutes to Wisconsin, ninety minutes to Iowa.

I'd have to say the variety of landscapes in Florida State. We have some of the worlds best beaches, the Everglades, the Florida Keys, the coral reefs. Farther north we have the swamps, lakes and woods. For those city slickers, we have Miami, Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville, St Augustine each with their own Floridian flavor..

Maryland....we finally got a Republican governor Larry Hogan a couple of years ago in this bastion of liberalism and he's doing a great job.

I don't have to go to an organized range, deal with nosy busybodies and unsafe idiots or ranges that wont let me have my own brass through thuggery.
