I miss the honesty, character and integrity that abounded in the people of this country 50 years ago.
Back when a man's word meant something, and was kept. No using lawyers and legal chicanery to get out of something you should do, or to do something you shouldn't. That's integrity.
Back when people wouldn't accept payment unless they earned it. Before the time when people are awarded lucrative jobs simply because they're 'the first left-handed, brown-eyed, Hindu woman to ever hold the job.' Cashing in on 'free government money' was unheard of. Welfare was unheard of; if a family needed help, the church or community provided it. That's honesty.
Back when people like Ted Williams interrupted his baseball career to serve the country. That's character. I will salute Pat Tillman--he was in that same class.
