Inventory dictates...
I try to keep stocked with everything in case of shortages, and I did well for everything except small pistol primers. Somehow I fell asleep and let myself drop under 2000 SPP. Just loaded some 44Sp, 44Mag, 45ACP yesterday. My SPP I'm saving up for a son who wants to learn how to re-load. All he has to shoot are two 9mm pistols and a shotgun. Tomorrow is his birthday, so I'm giving him everything he needs to re-load. RCBS starter kit, powder, bullets, dies, manuals... everything. I even threw in some of my precious SPPs because God knows he'll never find any in this environment.
He's fed up with the current environment in our town which has become a hotbed for child abductions. One of the bars in town just got busted for dropping runaway kids through a trap door in the floor down to the basement. The kids were then taken through a tunnel out to an alley where a panel van is waiting. They disappear and are never heard from again.
It's little children they're after too. His friends in law enforcement have told him how they target women who go out with their small children, mark their cars in the parking lot, and then follow them home. Once home they case their family's movement until they know exactly when dad won't be home. It's bad enough that they've decided she won't go out in public with the children unless he's with her. He also just picked up a second gun for her. Of course they have no ammo. We're going to change that soon.
So for the immediate future, my plan is to load lots of 9mm with my son. I'm proud of him for wanting to do this. For now I'm perfectly content to shoot the large caliber pistols for awhile.
