I looking at a model 15-6 with a 6in barrel. It has a trigger referred to as DAO only 3lb trigger pull, does this mean i cant pull the trigger back and shorten the stroke? I have a model 15-4 that has a shorter barrel & different front & rear site with a much heavier trigger pull. Did this gun come from the factory like that or has someone altered it? The price is $475 is this a good price for a off roster gun in west LA? Thanks for looking

Yes, DAO means it cannot be cocked and fired with a short trigger stroke (single action).

I'm not sure a 3 lb DA trigger pull is possible with an S & W K frame; I would worry about light primer strikes and mis-fires at that weight.

If possible I would try to meet the seller and test-fire before buying. I guess it is an OK price if it functions properly...

Thanks for the reply i was thinking the same thing about the trigger pull,I guess i'll pass. Picking are slim around here but something will eventually show up that catches my eye

Since the pickings are slim in CA you might want to inspect , or have a gunsmith inspect, the gun ....for safety and operational issues.
Perhaps the seller is confused on the terminology , a 3 lb. SA trigger is acceptable on a target revolver....3 lb. DA ????
Tell the seller a gunsmith's inspection is mandatory before you will purchase...if the gun is unsafe you do not want it . On the other hand if it is OK, $475 might be a good deal .

Walk away. Another one will come along. Buying a modified gun is a questionable proposition.

And to answer your title question - it probably has 5% finish (blue) loss with less visible metal damage than that.

I expect a 3 pound DAO pull to go something like this:

click, bang, click, click, click, bang, click, click, bang, bang, click, click, bang, click, click, click, bang.

Assuming all six cylinders were loaded and the use of Federal primers.

Somebody's full of it.

If it really has a 3# DA pull, it's a paperweight.
