What Full Autos Have You Fired?

Here are a few of the toys a couple bud's and I shot at a range in Arizona a couple years ago.

And no, the guy in the middle is not pointing that at me. He's about two feet in front of me.

M3A1 for the Grease Gun, that was the version where you cocked and loaded it by flipping up the cover, putting your finger in the hole and the bolt and pulling back on it.
Me: M60, M-2 .50 Caliber, M-16, "Grease Gun".

I'm sure there have been others that I have shot over the years, but I can't remember off hand. I would like to try a Colt Monitor, a Lewis gun, and an early GE Mini-gun.

M-16 and a Vulcan which is a 20mm Gatling gun mounted on a 113 APC (armored personnel carrier). At least I think it was 20mm. I was a 63Y (tracked vehicle mechanic) stationed in an air defense artillery unit in El Paso, Tx.
We were doing live-fire training in White Sands, NM. On the last day the First Sgt. asked if I wanted to run through a few rounds.
Talk about a kick in the butt. That was great.

M-2 .50 Cal
Quad-.50 (4 M-2HBs on a pedestal mount, "liberated" from an ADA unit back in SE Asia many years ago and slightly modified it, vehicle mounted, we called it the "jungle chopper." It definitely got Charlie's attention.

MAC M-10, usually with Sionics silencer in place
Various Soviet bloc weapons, light and heavy
Numerous weapons of allied countries issued during the '60s and '70s
Probably some others I don't recall at the moment.

As one may guess, the great majority of my full auto experience was at the behest of the U.S. Army. Most of those uses were experimental or for familiarization/training in nature, some were in combat. A few were used as a civilian. My experience is that full-auto weapons are somewhat fun to shoot, but are major ammo wasters, and are most useful as a psychological weapon (intimidation of the enemy/keep their heads down). The only machine gun I really liked was the M-2 (in all its variations) - very effective, long range, very accurate, packs a whallop. I also like the Thompson, with the exception that it is incredibly heavy for humping through the boonies. The M-10/Sionics silencer was also extremely effective, especially in covert ops, always left a "good impression." Shooting full auto can be fun, but it is much more fun if Uncle Sam is both paying for the ammo and paying you to do it (the fun factor is tempered a bit in combat, though). I don't shoot full auto any more, no real desire to, although, if somebody offered me an M-2, well....

Auto

When I was 12 the firing pin on my A5 malfunctioned (it was about 15 below zero out) and when I shot at a rabbit the gun went full auto and emptied in about .5 seconds-brapp and three rounds were gone. Missed the rabbit.

First one was the M-60 machine gun.
Also M-16 .. M-14 .. AK-47 ( from one of our .. " clients " who wasn't going to be using it anymore ) Lastly .45 greasegun.

While at Quantico, I got to use a couple of the new ( at the time) " Stoners " They were pretty neat, But I really liked the 7.62 a lot better.

I always keep an extra assortment of ammo in my vehicle when going to the range because if I get lucky someone will show up with a full auto and let me try it as long as I use my ammo.

I have had the luxury of shooting a few different items.
So far I have got to shoot:

Bar
M-59
M-60
M2 (50 cal)
Thompson 1928
Thompson M1
M16
AK
1919
A few different HKs.

Mac 11, M1Thompson, M1919 .30 Cal., M2 .50 Cal., M16, M14, MP5, BAR. Great fun, I wish I could afford to feed them!

MAC 10 in .45 cal. Pulled the trigger and it fired and then jammed......I thought. Turns out that I was out of bullets :D Handed it back to it's owner and said "Thanks". I could never aford to feed the doggone things.
What I would really like to have however is a select fire Mini 14 with the full auto/3 shot burst/single shot settings-THAT would be fun.
Wouldn't mind having an M-16 either-do these have 3 shot burst options?

Three or four different Thompsons, an M60, a bunch of M16s, an M3 Grease Gun, a Glock 18, and several MP5s (9mm and 10mm).
How did that Glock 18 work out??? I saw a cute young thang fireing it with the Gunny on "Lock & Load" the other night and it looked like fun

Cajun:
I got to shoot a dealer sample Glock that was the equivalent of a Model 18. It was ported which helped cut the muzzle rise somewhat.
It also had a fast rate of fire. I got a good grip on it and leaned into it and was able to fire three and four round bursts. The target was an old plastic bucket 10 or 15 yards downrange. I hit it.

I have shot other Glocks and they don't do much for me. The FA one was fun though and I'd buy one if I could.

MP-40 "BNZ44"
M-60
M-16
HK-51(I think that was the model) short, 308, a real BEAR!
Ruger-556
M-2 Carbine

Of the group, I could have bought the MP-40 for $2000,
some years ago. Now their $12,000 for a good one. Oh well!
