What gun and load did you use for your ccw test?

Smith 686. During the rapid fire/reload drill the flame was about 8 inches in front of the barrel. If you're going to use a gun, use a gun !

Sig Sauer, P229 in 40 smith and wesson.

Never missed a lick in over 200 rounds.

I also like to carry a n frame in 45 colt.

I used a 4" 686. I loaded it with a mix of .38 spl, .38+P and .357. It sounded like this: pop, pop, BOOM, pop, Bang, BOOM. Each cylinder full sounded a little different until I finished the test.

In my state the test is to pick up the instructor's gun and shoot towards the target one shot. If you don't point it at him or anywhere but downrange you pass. The whole thing took 10 seconds.

I went with a Walther P22. I had previously asked about caliber requirements / semi-auto vs. revolver / etc. and was told I could use anything I wanted.

It was interesting at the range. On one side I had a guy shooting a .357 magnum... on the other side a guy had a Glock (undetermined caliber). Let's just say neither of them were going to win any awards that day for their shooting.

I was getting the concussion effect everytime these guys fired, so I waited until they had to relaod, then put ten little .22s into the bullseye... time and time again. It was a hoot.

When it came time for the next shooters to come up to the line, sevral wanted to use MY gun instead of theirs. I had to tell them no, since they hadn't read the manual and didn't have any experience with the particular gun.

That's the story from Florida, at least a couple of years ago.

Best wishes,

Roger a.k.a. Mr. Wonderful

used a 637 loaded with Remington 158 grain +P LSWCHP.

Las armas son necesarias
Pero nadie sabe cuando;
Asi no, si andas paseando,
Y de noche sobre todo,
Debes llevarlo de modo
Que al salir, salga cortando.

Same here!

+1 with Mr.Wonderful.I used the mighty Beretta Model 21 Bobcat.Big bangs all around, I really had a ball.

Mississippi does not require hands-on qualification so the wife and I did not have to do anything but qualify. But when we lived in Missouri, we both used a vintage High Standard HD military. Sadly, I must admit that she outshot me. Old eyes and bad lighting you know. Wish I still had that gun.
Regards,
Howard

Borrowed a Kahr 9mm from the range as I did not own a gun at that time. The class was the first time I used a pistol. I had fun; used a box of whatever ammo they had.

For practice nowadays, (PF9 and M&P9mm) I almost always use WWB.

I used my S&W model 66 with a 4" barrel. I don't know what kind of ammo it was as they provide you with the ammo. I think you could use a .45acp, 9mm, .357/.38 spl, or a .40 S&W.
I think I only fired 10 rounds.

+1. I left there thinking I had shot a revolver loaded with a blank.

As I recall, I used a Ruger P89 in 9mm with UMC FMJ's, and a Ruger GP100 in .357 Mag, using some cheapy .38 Spl FMJ ammo, but that's been a few years back.

We don't allow anything smaller than .380ACP in our CCW courses, although some instructors here do use .22 rimfires because the ammo is so cheap. Here in Missouri, there is no caliber requirement in our CCW statutes so the instructor is free to decide what the students can or can't use in his/her class.

I used my Ruger P89 also, mainly because it was 10 degrees out and windy, did not want to use my new S&W 642 in that weather to shoot a hundred rounds.
