Like most of you, I have quite a few guns and I like them all. Lately I've been carrying my Kimber Pro TLE when heading into town, but whenever I am headed to one of the more remote and mountainous parts of New Mexico I always end up grabbing my 629-4. It just "feels" right. With the right leather I have no problem carrying it all day. What is your "go to" gun when going to remote areas?

I wish I had more opportunities to go to remote areas. I've been all over AZ & N Mexico & loved it but unfortunately because of work I spend a lot of my time in the Atlanta jungle. Instead of mountain lions & coyotes I have to watch for the two legged varmints that shoot guns like they came out of the box...sideways. So depending on the weather & what I'm wearing it's a 640-1 pocket carry or owb 2 1/2" 686-6.
Nice dash 4 BTW!

S&W Model 940 around town. When I go to the farm I strap on my 29-3 Silhouette, six inch. I agree with another poster about the proper leather. I have several Roy Baker pancake holsters for the 6 inch N frame and they make the gun disappear and all day carry is easy.

My usual concealed carry guns are an Alchemy Custom Guns Springfield LW Champion and a Pinnacle custom S&W 360J. But my "carry around the farm and in the woods" (which is as remote as we get these days) piece is another Pinnacle gun, my 3" .41mag S&W 28-2. It's a terrific general use revolver that is easy and comfortable to carry, the short barrel and round butt make it handy and the Ti cylinder shaves some weight and it packs plenty of punch.

Which Gun to Reach For

Are you kiddin me? Got several loaded around the house, ready anywhere in the house. 12 gauge with 4 rds. #4 buck, 3", 41 pellets, backed up by 5 # 2, 2/34" short mags for serious work. Door gun is 380 Bodyguard, no shower guns!! Neither wife or me comfortable with semiautos, but have M&P 9c on bed guard. Last time I thought I was threatened in the house, I jacked a round out of the mag instead of just inserting mag and racking one into the chamber, under stress, revolvers rule. I'm familiar with revovs, been shooting them since 1967 at 17, I'm now 70, you do the math. Bless you all my friends

DEPENDING ON THE LOCATION--WHICH WOULD DETERMINE WHAT I MIGHT EXPECT TO ENCOUNTER--I WOULD CARRY ONE OF MY MOUNTAIN GUNS.....

THEY ARE (L TO R) A M686+, A M629, OR A M625 IN .45 COLT. THEY CARRY EASILY, AND VERY WELL PROTECTED, IN SHOULDER HOLSTERS...
