what gun would you

In this situation now.... looking at grabbing the girl a 9mm. She found out she likes guns! Oh goodie... more money!!!
Her 2 top choices ..
Ruger SR9. Heard a few bummer stories about failure of the trigger to reset or FTF. So there is that little bit of do I trust it enough forn her to carry and count on? She did like all the safety features on the gun. Some dont seem to like the This gun is loaded sail on top of the gun.

. The other choice is the Glock 19. Wasnt a fan of the Glocks canter on the grip and were a little square and blocky. Just didnt feel amazing in my hand. But we rented and shot the 19 at our local range and it grew on me a bit.
Both are right around her price point.

Buddy swears by his Springfield but I have zero knowledge about them

2 weeks ago, I was in the OP's shoes. I'm retired, but do gunshows on weekends, so I can have anything I want. Picked up a 45 ACP Rock Island compact. Works great, doesn't jam, & is now my carry piece. While it's not as pretty as a Colt, it works just as good, & if I should scratch it, who cares, as it was $400. GARY

If I didn't already own a PPQ 5" long slide, I'd sure as hell buy one. Probably the funnest and most accurate pistol I own.

As I already have one, I'm looking at two to eventually pick up myself. First is an FNX 9 and the second is a SA Range Officer. I fired my buddy's FNX 40 and was really impressed. It felt great and was accurate as hell. The SA RO is what I want for my first 1911. :)

I'm hankering for a Baretta M9 that's sitting in the range I teach at. No real use for it, but it's a good looking solid shooter.

I don't really go in for exotic, unusual or high end. I like a really good tool.

I'm intrigued by two non-Smiths right now.
The Sig P227 which is their new .45, and the Springfield Range Officer which is an inexpensive but from what I read, tuned 1911 ready for serious competitive shooting.

.

I already have 2 black and uglies- a Glock and a Kahr.
Somebody mentioned a pre-WWII commercial 1911. Those are super nice pieces! I also like Browning Highpowers, Commercial of course.

My non-S&W pistol bucket list (in no particular order):

  • 70 Series Colt 1911, bright SS, in .38 Super
  • SIG P226 MK25 (the commercial version of the SEALs pistol)
  • SIG M11-A1 (the commercial version of the Naval Aviator pistol)

Probably should have mentioned earlier....

Already have a G19 and Sig P229 in 9 mm. That's why those two weren't on my "next" list.

NEXT

Already being well covered, they would be, just cuz I wanted one. Even though the 9mm p239 is almost the same size/wt with 1 more round in the mag, a SIG 232 stainless 380, a Belgian Browning high power 9mm, & a H&K 45acp tactical size.

Next gun

I believe in S&W for any revolver, but I'm not giving up my Python. My choice for my carry weapon is either a Glock 19 or 23.

Next one I want is the Glock 30s. I almost bought a Walther PPQ the other day but I already have enough 9mm.
