I've been fortunate this year and last year too , for that matter. Last year I picked up a very nice series 70 Govt. Model in 38 super for $450.00. In spite of everything I've read about this gun in this caliber, mine is a very accurate shooter. I still need a box for this one.
Last month I was able to buy a Colt Python, from a good friend, that is basically new (the gun). This friend was aware of current pricing trends and made me a great deal on this gun. I was blown away when my oldest brother wrote me a check for the purchase price of the Python. Just something he wanted to do for me, I suppose. Yes, I do have a great brother and we are very close.
I was also able to pick up one of the Lipsey 44 special, Ruger flat top revolvers for much less than suggested retail ($469 OTD, IIRC). This revolver exceeds my expectations. It's the 5 1/2" version.
Right now the items on my short list are few. I still want a vintage AH Fox 20 guage in CE grade. I'd like to have a Remington Classic in 250 Savage at a reasonable price as I would like to hunt with it. NIB is not necessary, just in real good shape with no major cosmetic problems. I also have a burning desire for a Winchester model 63. And last but not least is a S&W model 696 to actually use as a carry gun. Again not NIB, but with no major problems.
I've been thinking about selling my Stolle Panda 6PPC bench rest rifle because I haven't fired it in a match for close to 2 years , I guess. I'd use the funds to pick up a 6.5/284 for the 1000 yard matches at the club I belong to. I guess I want a lot for hard times and I'm grateful for the guns I have. I never dreamed that I would be able to accumulate the guns I have. I am fortunate for a plain ole, small town country boy.
