What happens when you lowball an offer......

Great find!

I always low ball because you never know. That's how I recently picked up a LH 24-3 in the box for $400. :)

If the bluing is around 98% to 99% with a little travelling then haggle for it the same chrome will remove the mild freckling.

Pap was a trader and his saying was when he was selling. I won't get get mad at you for offering if you don't get mad at me for not taking it. Or the other way around when he was buying. Larry

You got a great deal. Sometimes when I've sold vehicles in the past I had listed them a little higher but was always open to best offers. I guess with guns it goes the same way.

Oh, man, you've always got to give yourself wiggle room. Face-to-face dickering is an art and a great deal of fun. Except at garage sales where the seller thinks his possessions have gove up in value just because he or she owned them.

Wow, you guys are finding cool deals. To the guy who got the LH 24-3 for 400.00, I'll give a nice Model 49 and fifty bucks for it! :)

Good for you!

I sold a gun last week for $500. I was asking $550. I had at least six other offers between $450 & $475. $500 was THE number, and $500 is what I got.

I don't lose money on my deals...but that guy in your story probably did...

I picked a Model 49 2 years ago in a local pawn shop for $200. The owner wanted $350 but it had sat there for over two years so I low balled
him and got it for $200 plus $50 in transfer fees. My Dad has it now....

I low-balled three house offers this year. We wanted every one of them. My fourth house's normal range offer was countered, I never got a counter from the three - they took a subsequent offer, and it looks like we got this house. House offers aren't face to face - it made it easier to 'lowball' - and we got our just reward - a more expensive house with higher interest rates. I could never lowball someone in person - it just seems so insulting. BTW, my lowball house offers were suggested by my real estate agent! When folks lowball me, I usually raise my price. Most times they are window shopping anyway. The OP got lucky. It reminds me of the wormy little guy who propositions every gal who enters the bar. He gets slapped a lot, but every once in a while...

I just bought a S&W 351PD for $600 using Armslist Utah. Didn't even consider lowballing. It was hard enough finding one for only $600. Can't find them in gun stores(allocated) and the last one I could have bought was sold on Gunbroker for $670. Talking to the seller he said he had one interested party but that guy tried lowballing I would guess.

I've got you guys beat. I saw a gun advertised locally but priced a little high, I lowballed him, and after much haggling he ended up paying me $50 to take it.
The winner and still champeen haggler......
