There are several such designs. One had what is almost like a belt of additional cylinders, sort of like a machine gun. When one cylinder has been shot up, you manually move the next cylinder into position. There is a book called Winant's Firearms Curiosa which pictures all kinds of weird firearm inventions of the 19th century. I have a copy somewhere. Thanks, Rusty, for jogging my memory! I saw your photo and remembered that I captured the very same one a few years ago and saved it. When I went looking for it to be sure, I found these two additional "revolvers"! It would seem these share some DNA with the one you posted up!
