What is Smith & Wesson's worst gun?

Hmmm....DanM may be onto something.

Uhhh......K22's! Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket. Big, clunky, overgrown wimp-azzed, K38 wannabes. Wayyyy too accurate; boringly accurate. Like, what's the point man? Where's the challenge? Anyone can put holes in a target where they aim with one of them things. It takes a real lead artist; a true Kentucky-virtuoso to wrangle rational alibis from the patterns of "real" guns. K22's? Hah! To heck with them, I say. Don't even get me started on how downright cheap they are to shoot, either. Again, what's the point? I have made it one of my life's ambitions to corral about as many of those pesky, nobody should want-em, no-good, rotten K22's as I can. My motive would be to save the world from the frustrations of owning such a reckless and scandalous contraption. Why, there's rumors in some parts I may even be considered form a Nobel Piece Prize, or maybe even one of them Presidential Citations things for my magnanimous contribution towards saving the world from all that global warming and stuff that results when other people own those things. Yeah, so you can send me all your K22's for proper dispositioning. I won't even charge you way too much. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Seriously, there are a bunch of S&W's that given the opportunity to purchase, I have deferred. Most recently 61's, Sigmas, and a lot of their bottom-feeders (M41's 1911's and A22's excepted, of course). I will admit to owning one of them PPKS's and sort of liking it, but I haven't shot it much. Being sort of a S&W K22 snob, I truly don't like the 317's; cannot stand the trigger pulls on any of the 317's that I've run across. Most other S&W's seem to have some redeeming virtues for me. -S2

So..... no one wants to bring up the 45LC M25's prior to the 25-7? Most chambers varied .453-.460" with a barrel bore dia. at .451".

The 1076 may have been a failure in the eyes of the FBI but it is not one of the worst guns made by S&W. It along with the other 10mm & frame decocker autos are excellent guns. The 916 is a POS and I also think the 329PD was a dumb idea.

916 has my vote. Almost got me killed. Responded to an armed robbery got the bad guys coming out of the building and I pulled the brand new 916 out and racked a round into the chamber. The receiver and barrel went in one hand and the forearm and magazine went into the other. I looked at it for a second or two and realized OH $%^& and threw down the parts and pulled out my handgun. Smith and Wesson actually refunded the dept. it's money and took back all ten of them. Yep first class piece of junk.

Another vote for the Sigma 380 and its bigger brother Sigma 9M. Both complete pieces of crap. Failures to feed, ignite, eject, etc....

The worst one I have owned was the 940. I could not get the spent cases to eject with out tapping the ejection rod with a hammer. I sent it back to S&W a couple of times. They finally gave up and traded me for a 640 ( .357 ) which is now one of my favorite J frames.

A lot of sigma haters here. I've fed a couple thousand rounds of various brands of ammo through my 9VE trying to witness one of these failures. Just can't seem to make it happen.

For the old timers, the Olympic Model 22 single shot didn't win a lot of friends.

Sigma 380 had to be the worst I've ever owned, shot a foot low at ten feet and groups were terrrible. I've never had much fondness for Smith autos but can't find much to fault with their revolvers, at least till they invented that horrible lock!

ok . Now lets shoot down Ruger,Colt,Springfield,Kimber,Tauris,Rossi,F&N,H&R,Beretta,Browing,Charter Arms,Mauser and any body that was left out.

imho i think smith & wesson's worst gun is the model 60 with a 5 inch barrel but that is just mho

This is a great example of "different strokes..."

I have a 5" Model 63 that I like a great deal, and I'd like to have a Model 60 in the same configuration. I could slip it into a holster I already have whenever I felt the need for a little more "oomph" on my hip while tromping through the woods.

Those who view J frames as guns appropriate for concealed carry only would obviously feel very differently. And that's OK.

Personally, I'd side with the OP on the 329PD, as it would be all but useless for me. Nevertheless, I'm sure some might find such a thing useful given their particular situation.

Another vote for the 329. Real innovation there. Regards 18DAI.

I have a .35 S&W semi-auto I've never fired it. (ammo seems a bit scarce nowdays)

It is very nicely made. But has to be the most awkward, unhandy, just downright horrid excuse for a firearm to operate I've ever seen.

Maybe thats why they swore off semi-autos for the next 40 yrs or so.

Worst I ever had was a 669 semi-auto.
Sharp corners and trigger pull was too bad to be believed. Sold it fast.

a friend of mine bought a new sigma about a month ago, and brought it up for a shoot. i thought it was an absolute piece of crap. i'll stick to my 1911's thank you!
