Audible beeper so the hunter/trainer can keep track of the location of the dog if it gets into heavy cover out of eye sight,,or wanders too far away.

The hunter/trainer has a small remote to activate it.

I believe that is a beeper, dogs can be trained on them just as
a whistle. Have no experience with them. My dad was a great
bird Hunter, he always had at least 3 dogs, English Setters mostly. He had the shock collar set up to use on young dogs
that were ranging to far or running off after other game. He used
it sparingly. When my brother got old enough to hunt, he put
shock collar on brother and gave the controls to the dog.

It is a beeper (quite loud) that lets you know where your dog is when hunting in thick cover - the tone will change when the dog stops moving for a couple of seconds. That way you know that he is on point when you can't actually see him.
