To me the IL is really not about failure, which has happened, although not often.
The IL is simply FUGLY. It looks like a zit on an otherwise aesthetically pleasing firearm.
And the biggie, because the only reason for it is the sell out, which translates simply to "PRINCIPLE".

The IL is just another attempt to get under my skin.
I may not like it but, I'll live with it. I only have one with the lock anyway.
I can only wish that S&W had followed along the lines of Ruger. It's on the gun, but hidden under the grips, if you ever want to use it.

I'm going to make a stick-on lock decal so folks can upgrade the looks of their older Smith & Wesson revolvers.
Not bad! I haven't heard an idea with such commercial potential since the conception of pre-punctured prophylactics.

I love my guns, as you can see in my signature, what you won't see, is a gun with a lock on it in that sig.

The IL has nothing to do with the Clinton Administration. The British owners who caved no longer own S&W. Both subjects have been beaten to death so I won't bother with the details.

Sorry, I won't be putting one of those stickers on any of my guns. I'm concerned that they could detach under recoil and somehow become lodged in the lockwork, jamming the revolver. That, and the fear that an overzealous DA might crucify me in front of a jury for owning a handgun with a fake safety device. (Luckily my bestest guns all have the GENUINE locks.)
Ya know what? That lock ain't nothing for you to worry about. All that is,is a child protection lock which is prevelant on a lot of new guns now.You can either use it,or throw the damn thing away.I own a 686 that I bought used without the key,it's my favorite gun and I have many.
