That's actually a tougher question than it seems to be. I own 3 models-What is your favorite single stack 9mm?
a Norinco T-54 (2 of them actually), a Star Super B, and a S&W 39-2.
Of the 3, you'd expect the Norinco to be the first eliminated... but that was my first gun, I bought it at a gun show with my dad. It's been very reliable and accurate, and it is what fostered my love for surplus and lesser-known pistols. It's solidly made and all steel. I experimented with making homemade grips with my dad's woodworking tools, one of the only times I used his equipment myself instead of just standing by watching him make things (although he was a chemical engineer, he was the classic "do-it-all" dad, and he made some wooden cribs for us, furniture, wooden toys (rolling dogs with springs), etc. He also did our own bodywork on cars and even set up a paint booth to repaint our Mustangs growing up). So that gun has great sentimental value.
My Star B Super was the first pistol I owned that had the "1911 look", something that probably tugs at every kid who grew up watching all those B&W war movies, MASH, etc. I was, and still am, very impressed by how smooth and slick it is, how everything fits with a tight click, and by how easy it is for me to shoot at longer distances (probably my best pistol for paper plates at 50+ yds). Plus, I like the size; I like fullsize guns.
My S&W 39-2 is probably the most valuable of the group, and it seems to be a very nicely made pistol. It's a very good combination of functionality and classiness, something that has passed us by in the duty pistol world. Even though mine is not in like-new condition, it just has normal wear, and although honestly all my pistols are mostly for range and fun, the 39-2 is probably the closest thing I have to a safe queen.
