What is your favorite single stack 9mm?
That's actually a tougher question than it seems to be. I own 3 models-
a Norinco T-54 (2 of them actually), a Star Super B, and a S&W 39-2.

Of the 3, you'd expect the Norinco to be the first eliminated... but that was my first gun, I bought it at a gun show with my dad. It's been very reliable and accurate, and it is what fostered my love for surplus and lesser-known pistols. It's solidly made and all steel. I experimented with making homemade grips with my dad's woodworking tools, one of the only times I used his equipment myself instead of just standing by watching him make things (although he was a chemical engineer, he was the classic "do-it-all" dad, and he made some wooden cribs for us, furniture, wooden toys (rolling dogs with springs), etc. He also did our own bodywork on cars and even set up a paint booth to repaint our Mustangs growing up). So that gun has great sentimental value.

My Star B Super was the first pistol I owned that had the "1911 look", something that probably tugs at every kid who grew up watching all those B&W war movies, MASH, etc. I was, and still am, very impressed by how smooth and slick it is, how everything fits with a tight click, and by how easy it is for me to shoot at longer distances (probably my best pistol for paper plates at 50+ yds). Plus, I like the size; I like fullsize guns.

My S&W 39-2 is probably the most valuable of the group, and it seems to be a very nicely made pistol. It's a very good combination of functionality and classiness, something that has passed us by in the duty pistol world. Even though mine is not in like-new condition, it just has normal wear, and although honestly all my pistols are mostly for range and fun, the 39-2 is probably the closest thing I have to a safe queen.

But I really like my Beretta 92 Compact Type M ...8+1 , 4.25inch barrel/slide.....

I'm a big fan of the Beretta 92FS and for the longest time I really wanted the Beretta 92 Compact Type M, but could never find it. :(

To make you feel really bad.... sorry.............. I too am a Beretta 92 fan..............................

I have 2 FS with factory round trigger guards (strange); two SBs (bright bluing almost ANIB) and a D (Double action only) .....Compact Type Ms all have factory wood grips. The one FS I carry and shoot wears Farrar's rubber grips and is reverse two tone....... got my first one in about 93/94 as a hedge against the AWB issues and found the others along the way......

Favorite single-stack 9mm,......wasn't easy but once I listed them all the answer was obvious. The 9mm Benelli B76 is one of my favorite firearms of all time.

The Benelli has a unique action that allows a rigid barrel affixed to the frame, but it's not gas operated nor gas retarded. It's not a simple blow-back either,.....it's a locked breach. Makes 'the' perfect suppressor host and they're incredibly smooth and slick. Slide feels like it's on roller bearings.

My head tells me my PPS First Edition, but my heart says 3914.

Last Series S&W Model 39 with adjustable sights I guess Model 439 or 539 (1982)????..
Best Regards
Roberto Renauld

Just gotta be the Model 39. I put MMC adjustable sights on it. The more I shoot it the better I like it. It feels better in the hand than anything i've ever shot.

And yes, I've shot a Luger some and also a Mauser. The Mauser is a 9mm but not single stack as the magazine holds 10 rounds double stacked.

I like the SIG P225/P6 a lot. I have several double column 9mm's of various makes and they are fine guns, but none of them fit my hand quite like that single coumn SIG.

That would be : S&W 1911 Pro, Springfield Range Officer 1911 and Walther PPS (in that order.) With the exception of 1911's (and .22's of course), I've somewhat migrated away from single stack handguns.

Been thinking about this since the thread started, had to call for three.

For Carry - Mod 39, been with me since the late 60's.

For shooting - S&W 952-1, lays the brass in a nice little pile and about 2% more accurate.

For dry fire and absolute admiration Sig P210 Legend Target, comes in second for accuracy most of the time by a slim margin.

Bought my Sig P6 years ago when they were first imported here. Absolutely love it and accurate as well. Came in the blue plastic box with two magazines. Picked up some spare magazines, mag pouches, and about three different West German holsters. While it shows some cosmetic wear to the finish on the slide it has character. Frank

Another vote for the Walther PPS, great carry pistol and fun and accurate to shoot at the range with extended (8) rd mags. I carry my model 65 revolver or the PPS.

For everyday concealed carry..... it's my 3913NL with checkered Hogue wood grips and flush fit 7rd magazine..............

But I really like my Beretta 92 Compact Type M ...8+1 , 4.25inch barrel/slide.....

For some reason Smith 39s and a Sig 225 have come and gone but the 3913/14s and 92 Type Ms have multiplied..................

BAM-BAM, those last two are pistols I would be keen to try out too. ;)

Like a lot of others, the Model 39-2 is probably my favorite. I've owned several, but sold them for one reason or another. I keeps saying if I see another really nice one...

But I haven't lately so my favorite right now is my EDC, a Ruger LC9s with a purple frame. What can I say? They were on sale around Christmas, the pink and purple ones for $150.00 off the price of a black one. For that I can live with purple. I got a pink one for my wife.

It didn't take me but one trip to the range to convince me to replace a J-frame I couldn't shoot worth a hoot as my EDC.

And while I haven't shot it yet, I think this one will be a favorite range toy. A Metro Arms American Classic, 1911 in 9mm. Nice three dot sights, lowered ejection port, extended slide release and safety, beavertail grip safety, skeletonized trigger and hammer. The slide feels like it's on roller bearings, and the trigger breaks like that proverbial glass rod everyone talks about.

Very cool. There are so many great single stack 9mms, so I can't put the Benelli at the top. However, I like that entire line.

Do you have a 9mm B76 Sport or MP3S? They are the target/competition version of the gun. Hard to find, but they shoot very well. They have a polished blue finish on the frame and slide. The MP3S has a nice single action only trigger.
