Our Epson is junk since the last Epson software update, it doesn't even recognize it's own print cartridges. It was a good printer and scanner, but I won't buy another epson. The Brother that my wife bought has been junk from the git go. i couldn't even print a envelope earlier today.

I want decent scanner/printer that we both can use in the office.

Any suggestions?

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Recommend HP, Hewlett Packard, OfficeJet with the feature set you need.

I've found them to have the best combination of Cost, Hardware, Software, Print Quality, and Long-term Driver Update support.

If you get an HP inkjet, get one that qualifies for their subscription service HP Instant Ink. Easily cuts the cost of ink by at least two-thirds.

Edit: here is the link to the HP printers that are eligible for the Instant Ink subscription.

I have been using a HP Officejet 8710, in excess of 5 years without any problems. It has a different ctge for each color ink, which is a feature that I like. To get a 4 pack of 952 ctges that costs about $100 but you get a year or more out of them. To save money I sometimes print in black only. I am very pleased with my HP printer.

I've been using an HP 1320nw since about 2004, has never let me down. It is a networked, Postscript B/W laser printer. It's wireless protocol is too old t connect to a newer base, so now I use the wired Ethernet connection.

The great thing about it is it doesn't need any printer drivers to work. The genetic postscript driver included in the OS works perfectly.

If I ever need to replace it, I will look for another networked postscript laser printer.

Volume?

How many printed images per month?
Number of scanned images per month? Document feeders on many lower cost all in one products are less than reliable.

Monochrome or full color? Huge difference in cost per image. Even if you run the majority in monochrome, there's more cost/consumable products to be replaced inside a full color unit.

Many monochrome print all in one units are color scan capable.

FYI: HP was recently swallowed by Samsung. For the past 35 years or so Canon has supplied the print engine for HP. This has ended.

HP technology with Canon engines were a good marriage. I don't know how the Samsung/HP products will compare to HP's previous offerings.

The Canon Imageclass series may be worth looking out. The current series seem more user maintainable than the pre-HP divorce Canon products were in the past.

Now is a poor time to be in need of anything imported. Inventories are low, the dollar weak, pickings are slim.

I use a monochrome HP 506 printer at home.

I use Canon Imagerunner Advance DX color series at work. Installation and training of Canon Office Products is what I do for a living.

Over buying can be as bad as under buying with these products.

Matching application with the product is worthy of time spent.

We have a HP Laser Jet. I think the model is MFP26nw or something like that. It's black and white. Scanner/copier. Pretty fast and I print all my targets on it on 32# 98 brightness premium paper. Prints Jet black solids dry as a bone.. Cartridges are like $100 but I think I buy one every two years.

I hate inkjets and their wet prints.

Thanks to everyone for the opinions on printers. Looks like I will be looking at HP printers for our needs, since it was the overwhelming choice of those who responded.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

My HP's were consistently reliable when I was in business, but since retiring my printing needs were reduced to no more than a two or three jobs a year...With those intervals the ink cartridge nozzles consistently dried up by the time I needed to print anything...Same no matter what brand I tried...Nowadays I put whatever I need to print on a thumb drive, and the pretty lady at the bank prints it for me at no charge on my next trip there......Ben
