What kind of slugs are these?

I fired a few into the frozen berm last week and wonder if you guys can guess the caliber.

These were dug out of the berm about 6" deep. Some of them the jacket was stripped from the bullet.

Since they measure to be .50, and there seems to be a cannelure, 500 S&W.

Here is another hint, one of the fired slugs was 326.2gns after I washed the dirt off.

Well, I don't see a cannelure, but if they weighed 326.2 grains after cleaning, there's really only one choice then- 500 S&W.

Basic math.

On my screen:
Bullet Dia = 2-5/8" (2.625)
Dime Dia = 3-5/8" (3.625)
Expect some distortion because of camera perspective (different angles)

2.625 divided by 3.625 = .7242 (ratio of diameters)

Real dime = .705"

.705" X .7242 = .5106" (remember the distortion)

The bullets are 50 cal.

Same principle works for barrel lengths when you see a pic of a gun. Measure a known length in the pic, like the ejector rod or cyl. Remember that there will be distortion if the gun is at an angle and not truly broadside to your perspective.

Yea, it was a trick question. I can't fool no one here.

These slugs are 500 mag 350 gn jhp Sierra bullets. I load them with starline brass with 39 gns of Hodgdon H110 powder.

I believe these bullets are the smallest they make for the 500, with bullets running up to 700gns. That would be a blast to shoot.

I broke my hand a while back so I'm more civilized now, I sure don't want to learn how to dress, tie my shoes or brush my teeth all over again.....
