What model do you think is S&W's best fighting revolver?

The best S&W in the given scenario? 3 or 4" 625.
The one I would be most likely to use? This one:

Yep it's parkerized, yep it's ugly and yep it's a Ruger. I hope that won't get me banned...

For HD, I'll go with either one of these (which are all basically the same)
The models 10, 15, 64, or 67.

If concealment is an issue...I'd say a 19/66 snubby.

Concealment not an issue...a Model 58.

Best overall compromise...4" 586/686.

Your mileage may vary....

My 686, 4 inch with 3 speedloaders 38 Federal +P+, has saved my tail many times. Wasn't good for the "other guy" though.

I wodn't feel underarmed with my s&w model 686 with an .6 inch barrel, though i would prefer a shorte barreld model if I was allowed to carry a gun in public. But as carrying a gun is not allowed here in austria this more theoretically. As an house gun the 6 inch model is more than acaptable.

Nothing wrong with a 5 or 6" model. I like them just as well.

I carried J frames, K frames, and N frames in the line of duty, 2.5", 3", 4", 5", and 6" barrels, in 38, 357, and 44, plus a plethora of semi autos. I have to say that if I had to pick one revolver it would be a 4" K frame, model 15/19/66 64 or model 10/64/65. I just always seemed to be able to get multiple hits in the middle of the target from the holster a lot quicker with the K frame 4" than with anything else I ever used.

I agree with Mr. HayesGreener can't get much better than a 4" K frame.

I absolutely love my S&W Model 67 4" with 38Sp or 38Sp +P. Great for all around use.

I would go with the 686 in 4".

Of course anything is better than nothing if you are in a bind.

I've gotta go with an N frame .357, either the Model 27 with a 3 1/2" barrel or the Model 28 with a 4" barrel

One of these two

For me I would have to vote for one of the two I actually own and am comfortable with.

OR THAT
Model 13-3 3"

If I owned a 3" 66 that might get my vote as I feel it might be the best out there. I do think the 686 3" is just as vesatile, only a few ounces heavier and more durable.

My 2 Cents Worth on The Subject

At the bottom line it really is a matter of personal preferences and choices. In any case, here are my votes:

Unconcealed:

Performance Center - Model 327 M&P R8 - 8 Shot, .357 Magnum Revolver

A great revolver!

Concealed:

For me, it's the Performance Center's Model 13 .357 Carry Gun Special Edition manufactured in 1995.

Another great revolver!
