My thoughts would have to anything BUT organ music. Over the years and many funerals, I hate organ music. Beethoven's Fifth would be an awesome start. As long as NO organ playing.

Amazing Grace - Bagpipes if my wife precedes me, sung if I'm first. (she hates bagpipes)
Be Thou My Vision - my favorite hymn
Grace Alone

The Hard Way Every Time - Jim Croce

I posted this under "Sad Songs", but as I said there, I'd like this played:

More likely, those who know me will likely play:

I have already instructed my wife not to have a memorial service, but more of a celebration of life open house at the eagles club, or somewhere like that, I told her to play Live Forever by the Highwaymen. Drinks are on me, lets just wait another 35 or 40 years.

It's a toss up between "Turn out the lights, the party's over" and "Take My Life and Let It Be". ;-)
Pascal's Wager...

My wife has mentioned Amazing Grace on a saxophone. That would be good. Maybe One Kind Favor by BB King.

I know that when you're gone the corn's already in the feed, but I wouldn't want them playing "Hot Rails to Hell", or "Sympathy for the Devil"

"Hot Rails to Hell" is one of my favorites from the early BOC albums, before their music became more "pop" oriented. In fact, I'm listening to it now.

Still, I can see why it wouldn't be a first choice in funeral music.;)

I haven't decided yet, but here's what my wife wanted played at her funeral. We played it at the internment:

I have three.
I'll Fly Away
I Saw the Light
and for the party I'll be funding out of my puny estate, The Rolling Stones'
I KNOW IT'S ONLY ROCK'N'ROLL, BUT I LIKE IT.

Nothing. I've told my wife I'd like to just vanish, like I was never here. I haven't paid back enough good to even up for my first 40 years of life. Probably not enough time left. I've got a Navajo friend that says some of his people think a man is a success if he does not leave as much as a moccasin print here. I like that. Joe

Eons ago I thought Stairway to Heaven but the older I get Highway to hell makes more sense. Actually my family knows me pretty well, Dearest wife an chillen, And I will have to trust them to pick something appropriate and that reflects my lifestyle, both past and present.

I kinda like this one

I like the old time songs,Old Rugged Cross,Shall We Gather At The River for my old fishing buddies,Amazing Grace,One Day At A Time to remember Bill Wilson,The Air Force Hymn, and at the wake "There Are No Fighter Pilots Down In Hell.

Neil Young's sound track music for "Dead Man" and a dozen different versions of Ghost Riders in the Sky, headed up by Slim Whitman for a vocal and Dick Dale for an instrumental.
